The HR Generalist (HRG) is primarily responsible for sourcing qualified applicants, screening, interviewing, and referring applicants for positions throughout Midwest Transplant Network (MTN). This position must possess considerable skill in applicant sourcing techniques, interviewing practices, a good knowledge of all specialized functions in the organization, a strong understanding of MTN’s organizational structure and culture, as well as an extensive knowledge of personnel policy and procedure and federal and state laws regarding employment practices. The HRG works closely with the Director, HR and leadership to support the corporate culture of the organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

RECRUITING

1. Manage recruitment processes: sourcing, screening, interviewing, pre-employment testing and on-boarding.
2. Work with hiring managers and Director, HR to ensure job requirements and expectations are clearly understood and candidates are assessed against appropriate criteria. 
3. Design job ads and utilize different forms of media (print, web, etc.) to source and attract top talent and a diverse workforce.
4. Create and implement employment marketing strategies to attract passive job seekers.
5. Evaluate applicants for available positions via screening interviews conducted via email, phone or in person.
6. Collaborate with the hiring leader and Director, HR to develop actionable recruitment strategy and finalize candidate selection.
7. Develop and prepare technical and behavioral interview questions based on open position.
8. Provide coaching and training for leaders and peer interviewers regarding the interviewing and selection process, as needed.
9. Schedule interviews with hiring manager, leaders, and staff as needed.
10. Respond timely to job applicants, fostering relationships with talent to ensure they have a positive candidate experience
11. Provide job offers to approved candidates, including pre-employment screening and final job offer documentation. 
12. Assist the Education and IT departments with new employee onboarding scheduling, setup and equipment distribution.
13. Provide new employee welcome packet and communication.
14. Act as subject matter expert on employment law, legislation and unemployment that impacts recruiting to ensure compliance.
15. Assist the Human Resources Specialist/Benefit Analyst with related administrative aspects of employment, such as completing of health, employment and insurance forms, etc.
16. Act as liaison with area employment agencies and job advertising agencies/services, process and check advertising agency billings, and liaison with temporary agencies.
17. Responsible for maintaining and improving the MTN website recruiting page content to assist in recruiting active and passive candidates.
18. Manage the MTN employee referral program in conjunction with payroll.
19. Maintain current and accurate applicant statistics as a resource for monitoring the efficiency of the hiring process.
20. Track and shares feedback identified in new hire 30 and 90 check-in’s with Director, HR and leadership.  Partner with leaders to identify areas for improvement.

HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST

1. Responsible for working collaboratively with the Director, HR and the Human Resources (HR) Specialist/Benefit Analyst to support the corporate culture of the organization.
2. Maintain in-depth knowledge of requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, including reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
3. Work closely with leadership and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
4. Support employee relations efforts in partnership with Director, HR and leadership
   1. Counsels and advises leadership and employees on matters affecting employee relations
   2. Works with leadership, staff and Corporate Attorney to resolve complex employee relations including conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations
   3. Works with leadership team during staff disciplinary and termination processes and manages unemployment compensation claims
   4. Conducts exit interviews with employees leaving the organization, using data to make recommendations for improvement
5. Work with leadership in the development and maintenance, including annual review, of job descriptions to ensure expectations are clearly outlined and communicated.
6. In conjunction with Director, HR and HR Specialist/Benefit Analyst, review and develop HR policies and procedures to ensure consistency in administration.
7. Provide assistance for committee activities, including but not limited to, Spirit Committee, Wellness Committee and MTN holiday events and service awards. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Undergraduate degree and three to five years of human resources generalist or specialist experience required.
2. PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
3. Detail oriented, organized, excellent tracking/reporting skills, effective written and verbal communication.
4. Ability to develop trusting relationships with ease.
5. Must possess strong social media and marketing skills.
6. Must possess proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and in depth knowledge of data mining and internet research.
7. Must maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with MTN motor vehicle policy.  Must have reliable personal automobile transportation to be used with company reimbursement using IRS guidelines.  Must be able to travel within the service area by ground or air.
8. Ability to lift 50 pounds and transfer short distances.
9. Possess ability to operate telephones, computers and office equipment.
10. Ability to speak and communicate clearly in order to accurately convey information in person or by phone.
11. OSHA Category III – No exposure to bloodborne pathogens while performing assigned job duties.
12. Home internet and wireless phone access may be required.
