GENERAL INTRODUCTION:

Each position at the Chancery extends the ministry of the Archbishop as outlined in the position description. The Archbishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people) to help carry out the mission of the Catholic Church.
 

This role is part of the Communications team, which is focused on evangelization and support of the parishes, schools and other archdiocesan ministries.  Specifically, the team uses strategic communications to inform, educate, and inspire people to live the fullness of their Catholic faith.

 

GENERAL SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL PURPOSE:

In partnership with the Communications team, this person will support the development of integrated communication campaigns including campaign development and content creation, as well as supporting and writing larger special projects like the annual impact report. This role will include internal communication campaigns and will support the communication efforts of key ministries like Human Resources.

In support of the internal communication goals, this person is also responsible for the development of the weekly Chancery to parish e-newsletter, special announcements, and support of internal employee events. Lastly, this person will apply their strong writing and editing to other archdiocesan communications as needed.

 

ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:
 

  1. Writes, reviews, edits and proofreads internal communications including newsletters, letters, campaigns and bishop communications.
  2. Develops weekly e-newsletter for parishes, coordinates the archdiocesan email marketing strategy and execution.
  3. Partners with key internal stakeholders including Human Resources to support their employee communications.
  4. Supports the development and execution of integrated communication campaigns including preparing campaign briefs, writing content and integrating with full communications team.
  5. Secures photos, audio and video content linked to internal and external campaigns when appropriate.
  6. Maintains a current level of knowledge and skills required to effectively serve as a strategic communicator.
  7. Works with Chancery stakeholders and the rest of the Communications team to ensure employees remain integrated with the overall archdiocesan communications strategy.
  8. Supports the overall efforts of the Communications team by participating in the planning and execution of other projects as appropriate.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Primary

  1. Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Catholic Church by extending the ministry of the Archbishop.
  2. Active member of a parish/faith community in good standing with the Catholic Church.
  3. Willingness to conduct all interactions on behalf of the Communications team with respect and charity.

 

Education:

  1. Bachelor's degree

 

Experience:

 

  1. 3-5 years of communications experience.
  2. Proven experience with writing, editing and content development.
  3. Experience designing newsletters, editing websites, and using other digital communication tools.
  4. Experience with WordPress and email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp a plus.
  5. Graphic design knowledge preferred.

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
