On-Call Substitute Teachers


Rate of Pay: 3.5 Hours - $77; 7 Hours - $154


University Prep is seeking to develop a list of on-call substitute teachers for various disciplines and grade levels to help us advance our vision of being an inclusive community of learners that provides an outstanding education for each individual in a diverse student population. Job Summary:

Under general supervision, and on a part-time temporary basis, teaches courses as needed in any of the following disciplines: English, Math, History, Science, Languages (Japanese, Chinese, French and/or Spanish), Fine Arts, and Physical Education.


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provides classroom instruction and management
  • Collaborates with colleagues, students, parents and administrators as appropriate
  • Is familiar with and complies with all policies and regulations as put forth in the schools documents
  • Since safety and security are everyone's responsibility, takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, faculty, staff, equipment, materials and facilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university in one of the disciplines listed above required
  • Masters degree preferred
  • 2+ years teaching experience in a related field required
  • 5+ years teaching experience preferred


Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the students and program
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Ability to work efficiently in a Microsoft Windows or Mac environment using Office, master common automated systems for record keeping, and learn new technology
  • Comfortable with operating Audio/Visual equipment
  • Ability to work and communicate well with all levels of faculty and staff
  • Ability to work and communicate well with students and their parents
