Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Accountability

  • Assist Head Coach with establishing training groups
  • Oversee monthly skater evaluations
  • Document performance data and training feedback from athletes
  • Oversee FAST athletes while Head Coach is away
  • Assist Head coach conduct training sessions
  • Assist with equipment maintenance (ie., rocking/bending, etc.)
  • Video tape training sessions/help with analysis
  • Serve on the LOC for domestic and international competitions
  • Oversee UOO Speedskating Camps
  • Travel to competitions when necessary
  • Assist Head Coach with athlete testing
  • Monitor and/or assist with athlete enrollment payment schedule/collection
  • Provide insight and assistance with program growth ideas and specific requested action to UOLF Sport 2030
  • Initiatives

Required Knowledge and Essential Skills

  • Bachelors in Physical Education or similar education preferred
  • Must have knowledge of training program concepts
  • Complete US Speedskating Coaching Courses (through level 3) or equivalent preferred
  • Knowledge of psychology and group dynamics
  • Excellent people skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent leadership abilities
  • Great motivational skills
  • Ability to support a positive training atmosphere
  • Mentor athletes towards a high performance lifestyle
