Summary
The Kids Excel child development program is designed to provide free, temporary, short-term childcare for the students of the Excel Center until regular childcare is located. The child development center is available when students are studying on site or are in class and will serve children ages 7 weeks up to 12 years of age.
The early childhood assistant floater-covers absences in both the Hammond and Gary Kids Excel programs, stays in communication with the Lead Early Childhood Educators regarding coverage in the two programs, and ensures the safe and caring management and instruction of all the children entrusted to Kids Excel. This includes monitoring children in the center, serving snacks, and facilitating learning opportunities utilizing HighScope curriculum for the children while in their care. Early Childhood Assistants will help keep parents informed of policies and procedures at the center. The Early Childhood Assistant Floater covers absences in the Hammond and Gary Kids Excel programs and stay in communication with the Lead Early Childhood Educators regarding coverage in the two programs.
Education
- High school diploma and/or G.E.D required
- Continuing Education in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
