Principal Duty

This is a customer-facing role that combines critical thinking and integrated solution ownership with great leadership and management skills.  This person will be part of our Lifetime Services team, responsible for on-site services and support post implementation.

The Site Engineering Manager is  responsible for the overall management of the material handling systems installed at the site. This includes managing the resident engineering team, acting as a key escalation point, and being the focal point for the customer on all automation related topics. 

The ideal candidate has a customer first mentality, embraces customer interaction, at all levels, and understands that the primary responsibility of this role is a high level of customer satisfaction.

This position is based in Pittston, PA

Tasks and Responsibilities

  1. Serve as liaison between the supported facility and the broader Lifetime Services team. Attend daily customer meetings to build a strong relationship with the customer and keep them updated on site activities.
  2. Develop rapport with customer operational staff at all levels.  Work closely with customer operational staff to identify opportunities for system improvement in a pro-active manner.
  3. Provide broad based electrical, mechanical and software technical ability to improve the site’s performance.
  4. Coordinate all maintenance activities, including the Planned Preventative Maintenance schedule (PPM) and reactive repairs of the automated equipment.
  5. Ensure adherence to contractual obligations, including performance clauses.
  6. Collaborate with broader TGW Lifetime Services teams to track, document and communicate issues and lessons learned.
  7. Manage resident engineering team, including hiring, mentoring and training.
  8. Manage budget requirements for onsite support.
  9. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.

Requirements Profile

  1. Bachelor‘s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
  2. Previous experience supervising a maintenance team in a factory or warehouse environment preferred.
  3. Previous experience in high stress scenarios where conflict resolution and social skills are critical.
  4. Several years of mechatronic troubleshooting and repair experience with material handling conveyor, AS/RS and shuttle experience; fluent in use of troubleshooting tools (Digital Multimeter, power supply, and hand tools).
  5. Several years experience in PLC troubleshooting and use of programming, diagnostic and troubleshooting tools (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Rockwell, Beckhoff).
  6. Profibus, Profinet, CAN bus experience preferred.
  7. Proficiency with interpreting CAD schematics for use in diagnostics preferred.
  8. Proficiency with MS Office Suite preferred.
  9. Approximately 10% travel may be required.

  9. Must be able to adjust body movements or equipment controls to keep pace with speed changes of moving objects

  10. While looking forward, must be able to see objects or movements that are off to the side

  11. Must be able to visually inspect machines

  12. Must be able to see differences between colors, shades and brightness

  13. Exposed to moving and/or motorized equipment, machinery, parts and electricity that require safety protocols

  14. Must be able to speak clearly so others can understand

  15. Must be able to understand the speech of others

  16. Must be able to hear sounds and recognize the difference between them

  17. Must be able to focus on one source of sound and ignore others

  18. Must be able to determine from which direction a sound came

  19. Must be able to use critical PPE correctly

  20. Exposed to job site temperature fluctuations due to seasonal weather based on geographic region
