Principal Duty


The Resident Automation Technician II supports our customer on all automation-related topics.  This position requires a broad-based electrical and mechanical skillset along with a proactive approach to identifying ways to improve the site’s performance through troubleshooting and hands-on repair.  Based at our customer site, the Resident Automation Technician II must represent the TGW image and ensure a professional relationship with the client is developed and maintained.
This position is based in Pittston, PA.


Standardized Tasks & Responsibilities


1.    Resolve customer equipment issues as quickly and practically as possible.
2.    Complete work assignments and the associated work orders as assigned.
3.    Complete maintenance activities pertaining to the automated equipment on-site, including conveyors, cranes, shuttles, scale checks, and carton-opening systems.
4.    Adhere to the highest quality standards, while always ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation. 
5.    Optimize automation efficiency and performance to ensure delivery of contracted KPIs.  Interface with the customer as needed to support operations. 
6.    Monitor and maintain the site spare parts inventory. 
7.    Collaborate with the broader TGW Lifetime Services team to track, document, and communicate issues and lessons learned.
8.    Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements Profile


1.    High school diploma required.  Associate degree or Technical Certificate in Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Engineering, or related field strongly preferred.
2.    Two (2) to three (3) years of demonstrated experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment in industrial, warehousing/distribution, manufacturing, or related environments.
3.    Familiarity with HMI (human machine interface) and/or SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition interface) experience.
4.    Ability to interpret engineering drawings for use in diagnostics. 
5.    Excellent communication skills and customer service skills. 
6.    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, etc). 
7.    Ability to travel up to 10%. 
8.    Previous experience in electromechanical troubleshooting and repair of material-handling conveyors, AS/RS, and shuttle systems, preferred.
9.    Profibus and Profinet experience preferred.

8.    Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; maximum unassisted lift = 50 lbs; average lift less than 20 lbs
9.    Must be able to adjust body movements or equipment controls to keep pace with speed changes of moving objects
10.    While looking forward, must be able to see objects or movements that are off to the side
11.    Must be able to visually inspect machines
12.    Must be able to see differences between colors, shades and brightness
13.    Exposed to moving and/or motorized equipment, machinery, parts and electricity that require safety protocols
14.    Must be able to speak clearly so others can understand
15.    Must be able to understand the speech of others
16.    Must be able to hear sounds and recognize the difference between them
17.    Must be able to focus on one source of sound and ignore others
18.    Must be able to determine from which direction a sound came
19.    Must be able to use critical PPE correctly
20.    Exposed to job site temperature fluctuations due to seasonal weather based on geographic region
