Scientific Protein Laboratories is a biopharmaceutical leader in the development and manufacturing of heparin, pancreatin, heparin derivatives, naturally derived pharmaceuticals, and recombinant proteins from microbial fermentation. We have an immediate opening in Waunakee, WI (Madison area) for a Process Engineer in our growing Pancreatin department.

This position is responsible for being the primary technical resource for processes and improvements in production areas. The Process Engineer will be responsible for planning, administering and completing work associated with maintaining a lab scale process facility while working across several functional areas and with external stakeholders. This position will act as project manager directing efforts of small scale process protocols for investigations and process improvements, and provide operational scope for commercial scale process and CIP improvements. Defines process and equipment changes to achieve production requirements. Analyze production equipment operations, routine maintenance, and energy requirements of process systems to optimize economical operation and meet regulatory requirements.


• Primary technical resource for department processes and a client specific process

• Work directly with crossfunctional groups and the client specific technical liaison

• Technical resource for investigations

• Maintain a lab scale process facility

Develop lab scale protocols for investigations and process improvements.

• Execute small scale process protocols

• Provide operational scope for commercial scale process and CIP improvements

• Screen SPL raw material suppliers

• Collect and trend process data

• Track process step timing

• Work directly with supervision and process operators to implement operational efficiencies

and 5S projects


• Four year Bachelor's Degree in relevant discipline, Chemical Engineering highly preferred.

0 years of experience required. Up to 10 years of experience preferred.

Good interpersonal skills for crossfunctional, intrafunctional, and clientfacing work.
