Role:
It Takes A Village Leadership Academy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Spanish teacher to join our vibrant K-8 elementary school community. The Spanish teacher will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and supportive school culture, promoting student success, and maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students and contribute to their overall academic, social, and emotional growth. This role requires travel among our sites to support the needs of our school community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a standards-based Spanish language curriculum aligned with proficiency guidelines and educational standards.
• Design lesson plans that incorporate communicative language teaching methodologies, authentic materials, and cultural content to engage students in meaningful language learning experiences.
• Introduce students to the culture, history, and traditions of Spanish-speaking countries through authentic materials, cultural projects, and discussions.
• Assess student language proficiency through a variety of formative and summative assessments, such as oral proficiency interviews, written assignments, projects, and performance tasks.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including heritage speakers, English language learners, and students with varying levels of proficiency.

Location: It Takes A Village Leadership Academy - Bronzeville (Chicago, IL)

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $43,019 - 52,770

Required Education and Experience:

• Associate's degree in Spanish, Spanish Education, Foreign Language Education, or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Valid teaching certification/license in Spanish or Foreign Language Education.
• Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish language and culture.
• Experience teaching Spanish at the elementary, middle, or high school level is preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Travel is required for the role
