The Controller is responsible for the operations of the accounting department and is to ensure the efficient, complete, accurate, and timely performance of all accounting functions.  They are responsible for staffing and scheduling of personnel within the department.         


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:                                                         

  • Oversee and direct all aspects of the company’s financial and accounting functions and systems.  Manage all accounting operations and maintain system of controls including Billing, A/R, A/P, Cash, GL, Inventory Accounting and Revenue.
  • Ensure monthly financials are complete, timely, and accurate and balance sheet reconciliations are current and correct.  Compile and analyze financial reporting packages.
  • Maintain established schedules and meet established deadlines for performance of all accounting functions.
  • Maintain a highly qualified and motivated staff to meet current and anticipated accounting demands.
  • Manage the year-end audit for the company. Provide complete and accurate data for verification by 3rd party audit firm. 
  • Ensure that internal controls are in place and are being adhered to.  Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company’s procedures.  Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. 
  • Supervise the accurate and timely filing of sales, use, and income tax returns.
  • Maintain positive banking relationships.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Keeps management informed regarding key operating issues affecting the department.
  • Participate in the development of and support the company’s strategic plans.
  • Promote safety, welfare, wellness and health to the enterprise. 
  • Hold financial matters as they relate to our employees and certain other matters as may arise in strict confidence.
  • Assist CFO in preparing the annual operating budgets.
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
  • Previous Supervisory Experience.
  • Four-year accounting degree.
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP accounting principles, accounting systems, and the accounting process.
  • Must be proficient Microsoft products and ERP software.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
  • Experience and evidence of practicing high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • CPA Certification.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • This position is responsible for managing the accounting department.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. 

Physical Demands:

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. 

Position Type/Expected hours of work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
