Maryland Auto Insurance seeks candidates to fill a SIU Claims Investigation Supervisor role with our SIU Claims team. This position requires a thorough knowledge of basic insurance industry policies and procedures as they related to all aspects of claims and underwriting functions. Prior experience or knowledge or both civil and criminal law as it relates to claims, underwriting and fraud investigations is preferred.  Familiarity with the Maryland statue that applies to the creation and operation of Maryland Auto Insurance and the fraud statue is preferred.  This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Claims Manager.  The position will directly supervise other employees, which requires the planning, organizing and overseeing work of other personnel.  The successful candidate may be eligible for teleworking. 


Duties will include:

  • Review, development and assignment of fraud referrals submitted to the SIU Unit
  • Prepare written reports and referrals for submission to the insurance fraud division
  • Investigative requirements will include knowledge and use of public and proprietary information databases
  • Research which includes tracking and identifying of individuals with historical data
  • Investigations including phone contact with insured, claimants, producers and external SIU investigators, law enforcement, or regulators
  • Information gathering will include statement taking
  • Data and administrative support of ongoing investigations assigned to SIU and FCR field staff.
  • Instruct SIU's training programs
  • Share in the development of new departmental programs to improve customer service
