Company Summary: Aeglea is a clinical-stage biotechnology company that engineers next-generation human enzymes with enhanced properties and novel activity to provide solutions for diseases with unmet medical need. Aeglea is developing pegzilarginase, its lead product candidate, for the treatment of Arginase 1 Deficiency which has received both Rare Pediatric Disease and Breakthrough Therapy Designation. Aeglea has two programs in IND-enabling studies for Homocystinuria and Cystinuria and an active discovery pipeline.

Position Summary: Aeglea BioTherapeutics based in Austin Texas, is actively recruiting for a Director, Marketing & Diagnostics. This role sits within the Global Commercial team working across all programs of the portfolio related to brand strategy, promotional mix, patient diagnosis, laboratory and diagnostic services, testing and patient finding strategy. This Director of Marketing & Diagnostics will work with a large team in the home office and in the field. Works with cross-functional teams to analyze customer brand/competitive product utilization, and market trends to prepare for product launch. Delivers on key brand expectations such as Launch Readiness Reviews (LRR) and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR). This role will interact with a multitude of internal and external stakeholders, at varying levels across the organization and requires highly developed interpersonal skills, project administration skills, a helpful demeanor, and a solution-oriented approach. This role is critical in contributing to the overall success for Aeglea and requires functioning at a high level with tasks and activities while maintaining a positive disposition with stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following:

  • Develop and execute ARG1-D Brand Plan and key activities pre-launch and post launch for U.S.
  • Collaborate with key KOLs on key initiatives
  • Own launch readiness plan and execution
  • Establish and lead end-to-end diagnostic strategy & activities of internal and partnered capabilities critical for the successful advancement of patient diagnosis across the Aeglea portfolio
  • Coordinate the collection of data resulting from diagnostic programs, analyze these data, and share best practices for diagnostic programs across regions
  • Responsible for all operational aspects of US Commercial diagnostic projects, including stakeholder management, project scope, strategy, planning, resourcing and project direction, execution and closure
  • Responsible for leading global screening/testing programs and helping to establish testing programs at the local/regional level
  • Manage creation of marketing and diagnostic testing materials, eg., testing cards, testing guides, internal diagnostic training materials, etc.
  • Maintains understanding of Aeglea therapeutic areas and pipeline programs.

Education/Experience: The ideal candidate will offer:

  • At minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in medical-related field or life science. Post-graduate degree preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree +8 years, Master’s Degree +6 years, Doctoral Degree +4 years of relevant pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare or related environment, especially in one or more of the oncology or rare diseases therapeutic areas; graduate degree (master’s or doctoral) preferred
  • At least 2 years’ experience of oversight/ supervision of full-time employees and/or managing external resources, such as contractors or vendors
  • Relevant experience in rare disease and/or neurometabolic therapy encompassing patient identification and establishment of diagnostic networks is highly desirable
  • Expert industry knowledge and diagnostic laboratory/digital acumen with a track record of successfully managed Dx projects and success working with both commercial and other cross functional teams
  • Understanding of the legal and regulatory environment in pharmaceutical promotions and reimbursement

    • An advanced understanding of the drug development process
    • Advanced knowledge of the principles, concepts and theories of marketing, patient diagnostics and extensive knowledge of the principles and concepts of other disciplines with a biotechnology/pharmaceutical company
    • Extensive knowledge of clinical research concepts, practices, and FDA regulations and in regard to drug development phases, clinical research and commercial operations; demonstrated ability to interpret and apply these concepts to their function
    • Breadth and depth of experience managing the responsibilities associated with multiple programs at various stages

Work Environment

This is a high growth, fast paced, and small organization. The ability to be productive and successful in a scientifically led and data driven work environment is critical.  Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally on occasion is required, it is anticipated that this will be less than 20-30% of work time.
