EXPERIENCE: Lateral Entry
(1) Must be a Kentucky Law Enforcement Council Certified, or be able to obtain KLEC Certification and (2) currently employed full-time as a municipal, county, or state law enforcement officer or have recently been employed prior to application as a municipal, county or state law enforcement officer and (3) a minimum of two years experience can equate to probationary grade II, a minimum of five years experience can equate to probationary grade III, a minimum of (7) seven years experience can equate to a probationary grade N, and (4) must be on the eligibility list for hire.
GRADE: Police Officer Grade 1 shall be advanced to Grade 2 after (1) one year of service: Grade (3) three after; Grade 4after (4) four years of service and Grade V after(10) ten years of service. All step-in-grade promotions are based on years of service and favorable recommendation from the Chief of Police.
EDUCATION
Completion of at least 30 credit hours at an accredited college or university with an average grade of "C" or above or 24 months of continuous active duty in regular military service with an honorable discharge or 5 years continuous employment as a municipal, county or state police officer. Able to read, write and understand the English .language.
ADDITIONAL EVALUATIONS
Candidate must successfully complete the agility, psychological, polygraph, and background examinations, including fingerprints.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts. and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and KLEC
