POSITION SUMMARY:
Instruct group classes specific for Active Older Adults; provide excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct energizing, fun, safe, and educational classes for Active Older Adults who qualify as a special population with unique health histories and exercise goals.
- Be extra patient, aware, and mindful of the limitations this population faces by providing modifications and giving options for alternative exercises.
- Build effective relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
- Maintain working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
- Keep accurate class attendance records.
- Be willing to substitute for other instructors (class dependent) during times of their absence.
- Arrive 10-15 minutes early to class and stay 10-15 minutes after class to set up, take down, and socialize/ answer questions members may have.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures; respond to emergency situations.
