In this position, the Sr System Administrator will be responsible for participating in the effective planning, installation, configuration, and administration of CHFA technology systems. 

This individual will be part of CHFA’s IT Operations team and will take a lead role in the Release Management process. This includes being a primary point of contact for coordinating, performing, and supporting software releases of applications developed by CHFA’s Solutions team.  This person will facilitate the change management meetings; perform software deployments and migrations for both custom and third-party applications; manage code repository system; and develop processes, procedures and apply effective project management principles.

The Administrator will also be responsible for participating with configuration, operation, maintenance, and support of certain IT Infrastructures systems. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation. They will participate in the monitoring and response to production issues with CHFA and 3rd party systems as required to minimize downtime and user impact.  This individual also ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to industry best practices and organizational policies and processes.

essential functions

  • Perform Software Migration duties including the management and control of the staging and production environments
  • Manage the code repository ensuring that developers  have appropriate access and are properly checking code in/out
  • Help coordinate and perform the execution of approved scripts and software releases in production environments
  • Assist with the management and control of development, staging, and production environments
  • Help define processes and procedures to control and improve the release process
  • Lead CHFA’s weekly Change Control meeting and ensure any change is following the approved process
  • Maintain external systems and relevant user licensing/security to facilitate the software development life cycle,( eg. Azure DevOps)
  • Adminstrates the code repository system and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
  • Perform routine systems administration tasks such as hardware setup and upgrades, software/OS patching and upgrades, and preventive maintenance
  • Maintain virtual server infrastructure across production, development, staging, and disaster-recovery environments.
  • Provide direct user support for escalated advanced technical incidents and requests
  • Design and deploy technology solutions to meet CHFA’s strategic and tactical needs
  • Create moderately complex system scripts and programs
  • CHFA’s core support hours are 8am – 5pm M-F, but occasional after-hours support may be required as-needed, including response to reported failures or scheduled maintenance and upgrades.
  • Follow established department policies and procedures; comply with established department SLA; and perform duties as directed by supervisors and managers



knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps, Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server, MS Build and other development and release related applications
  • Advanced knowledge of current Microsoft Windows operating systems
  • Intermediate to avanced knowledge of SQL Server, Active Directory, GPO, and IIS
  • Knowledge of security concepts and techniques within an enterprise environment
  • Skilled in using system commands and processes and detailed knowledge of system configuration parameters
  • Advanced analytical problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to communicate in an effective and diplomatic manner and establish rapport with persons of diverse ethnic, racial, and cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to coordinate, organize, problem solve, and prioritize work
  • Ability to work an occasionally flexible schedule including evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the business such as off-hours maintenance or after-hours deployments
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with cross-functional work teams toward task completion
  • Intermediate knowledge of general networking and network security
  • Ability to set priorities to assure completion of work within established time frames

  • Minimum of four (4) years previous work experience in Systems Administration roles
  • Prefer a BS Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field
  • Industry certifications such as ITIL, MCP, MCSE, AWS, Azure, DevOps, or Networking+ are considered a plus
  • 1+ years of software release management experience. Agile project management experience preferred

The incumbent in this position will perform the essential functions of the position primarily in an office environment, which requires sitting at a desk the majority of the time. Must have sight and the ability to use computer, with or without assisting devices.
