Job Details

Eastside Preparatory School - Kirkland, WA
Full Time

Description

Eastside Preparatory School: Admissions Counselor

At EPS, we take care of our community members, foster a sense of belonging, and balance high expectations and high support. Student retention of 97% and enthusiastic word-of-mouth marketing contribute to strong reputation and, in two short decades, our applications well-exceed available enrollment spaces. Join our team to help meet our admissions and enrollment goals through forward-facing, people-centered work in an energetic school setting.

You should pursue the opportunity to join the admissions team if:

  • You connect. Communicating for the purpose of educating others is second nature to you. Sharing stories and hearing those of prospective students and parents energizes you. You are an outgoing person who pursues conversations.
  • You collaborate. Even if you haven’t yet experienced a truly collaborative work environment, you appreciate and understand the benefit of brainstorming and activating ideas together, and you are genuinely open to the process.
  • You activate. Your tool kit of self-management skills that allow you to operate with a high bandwidth. You’ve found organizational tools that help you to support yourself as you set priorities and achieve goals. Your professionalism helps you to both lean in and to set boundaries as needed.
  • You think critically, act responsibly, lead compassionately, and innovate wisely. Mirroring our mission, you share the fundamental qualities of an EPS student: curiosity, kindness, a persistent need to ask why?, and a willingness to try new things.

Qualifications

How your qualities and skills will be engaged:

  • Representation of Eastside Prep: from admissions events to outreach visits to school fairs, you will be part of the web of connection between EPS and the wider community of applicants and their families, fellow school admission and placement professionals, and educational consultants.
  • Facilitation of Parent/Guardian Interviews: our 30-minute virtual interviews with each family set a tone for how families will continue to connect with EPS after enrollment and help us gain vital qualitative information about a family’s values and attributes. You would facilitate a significant portion of these interviews alongside other members of the Admissions and Senior Leadership teams.
  • Admissions Committee Leadership: as a key admissions application reviewer, you will understand the big picture of the application pool while harnessing details about individual students’ applications in order to create class composition mirroring EPS values. Specific responsibilities for Middle and/or Upper School review would reflect your experience and/or interests.
  • Strategic Thought Partnership: in connection with the director of enrollment management, you pursue projects with data-driven approaches. You make both strategic and in-the-moment judgement calls on behalf of the team and the school as needed.
  • Emerging Interests and Needs: based on your experience and interests, other aspects of your admissions and enrollment experience will be harnessed to support both the needs of the school as well as you professional development.

You should ideally have some combination of a bachelor’s degree, 2 or more years of admissions/enrollment experience, and experience working in either a school or college/university setting. The exact mix of these qualifications does not matter as much as the sum total of your experiences and we do not want any one requirement to be a barrier to your application. We seek your personality and skills over a particular resume.

Candidates who have language fluency beyond English will be given additional consideration as these skills help us better connect with applicant families.

Compensation

Salary range is $67,725-$77,315 and will mirror your experience. Our team members each have a portfolio of admissions and enrollment responsibilities, and yours would be based on your strengths and interests. Professional growth is fostered throughout the EPS employee community, so this is a position that can evolve with you.
