Aeglea is developing pegzilarginase, its lead product candidate, for the treatment of Arginase 1 Deficiency which has received both Rare Pediatric Disease and Breakthrough Therapy Designation. Aeglea has two programs in IND-enabling studies for Homocystinuria and Cystinuria and an active discovery pipeline.


Position Summary: Aeglea BioTherapeutics based in Austin Texas, is actively recruiting for a Research Associate – Translational Science, to support the development of novel biotherapeutic enzymes for the treatment of inborn errors of metabolism and cancer. The Research Associate Translational Science is responsible for the coordination, logistics, implementation, and execution of the Translational Science operations in coordination with the Aeglea research, clinical and clinical operations departments, as well as external CROs.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following:

  • Utilize biology, chemistry and drug development knowledge coordinate with clinical, clinical operations and research teams as well as external CROs to advance research results into bioanalytical assays
  • Advance bioanalytical assays into validated assays for use in GLP studies and clinical trials
  • Review non-clinical and clinical bioanalytical study protocols and reports
  • Assist with data analysis
  • Utilize internal resources to coordinate study logistics including proposal initiation, implementation and progress tracking.
  • Organize and coordinate the data for project team meetings
  • Coordinate the logistics and timing of sample shipments and analyses
  • Other duties as assigned. Respond to changing duties as responsibilities may vary based on project needs, and stages of development

Education/Experience: The ideal candidate will offer:

  • B.S. in Biology, Chemistry or related discipline
  • 3+ years laboratory experience in an industry setting
  • Project coordination/management experience, highly preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • In-depth understanding and track record of knowledge of the bioanalytical and translational science requirements to transition a candidate protein therapeutic from the research to clinical phases of drug development.
  • Bioanalytical assay development experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others, within and across functions/teams both internal and external
  • Detail-orientated, self-motivated and organized, with the ability to multi-task and change direction successfully in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of GLP requirements required for drug development
  • Ability to drive projects to deliver on time and within budget
  • Recognizes problems or situations that are new and without clear precedent. Evaluates alternatives and solutions.
  • Ability to work independently with strong organizational, prioritization and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously on time and on budget.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, collaborative and communicative skills. Excellent communication, planning, and analytical skills
  • Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, data analysis and scientific software
  • Excitement to organize, participate in and present data at team meetings
