Responsibilities

• Supervise a 3-hour after school program for students at the school site, based on the number of students and grade levels of students
• Implement collaborative teaching strategies for scholars.
• Support the development and delivery of relevant, engaging, and rigorous lessons.
• Monitor students working on online learning platforms.
• Ensure the academic and social development of scholars throughout the course of the program.
• Serve as a role model for an assigned group of scholars.
• Identify scholar needs and developing instructional plans and practices to best support scholars.
• Monitor scholars educational and social progress and making necessary recommendations for adjustments.
• Support classroom and behavior management consistently to develop a safe and productive learning environment.
• Maintain attendance and supporting classroom procedures/functions.
• Assist with coordination with other school sites on scheduling of engaging and enriching programs and providers.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 18 years of age or older.
• Academic skills – proficiency in elementary math and literacy.
• Experience working with Children.
• Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback.
• Commitment to teamwork and collaboration with diverse populations.
• Desire to work with elementary scholars and their families in under-resourced communities.
• Outstanding verbal, written, and technological (computer/internet) skills.
• Ability to build relationships and influence scholars, staff, community members & families.
• Demonstrated leadership ability.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Committed to the goals of the program and approach.
• Love and respect for children.
• Evidence of efficacy and willingness to be a team player.
• Belief and commitment to the Y’s mission and values.
• Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR through one of the following organizations: American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Course may be completed through either a blended mode or in-person. Classes completed 100% online will not meet this requirement.
