Description

This is a part time Medical Director role reporting to the Executive Director of Patient Safety, Risk and Quality.  The Medical Director will co-manage/direct ECRI’s Infection Prevention and Control group which includes all aspects of consultation and planning to support effective implementation of infectious disease clinical care and epidemiology/infection prevention and control for internal and external customers/clients. The Medical Director will co-lead a team of Infection Preventionists (IP) and support staff in combination with the IP program leader. As such, the Director will contribute collaboratively to a broad array of programs throughout the entirety of ECRI’s business line offerings and products. The Medical Director will have business line management and budgetary co-responsibility for the Infection Prevention and Control group. In addition, the Medical Director is responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities that align with ECRI’s mission and strategy in collaboration with other senior and executive leadership. 

The Medical Director seeks appropriate speaking engagements to represent ECRI at conferences, webinars and also contributes to interviews requested by media and organized through the ECRI Marketing and Communications Department. The Medical Director interacts with high-level representatives from but not limited to: clients, prospects, and healthcare product manufacturers. The Medical Director authors/contributes to abstracts and papers for publication/presentation.

Essential Functions Statements(s)

  • Contribute to the development and refinement of the Infection Prevention and Control group’s vision, mission, and strategy as well as contribute to enterprise-wide strategy development. 
  • Contribute to the group’s annual business plan and budgeting in collaboration with Finance, Sales, Marketing, and other business line directors/managers as appropriate.
  • Work with sales team to promote growth of consulting engagements and memberships.
  • Represent ECRI at national conferences and association meetings on issues associated with infectious disease and infection prevention and control.
  • Work collaboratively across business units within ECRI and with the business development team members from other business lines to identify and contribute to mutually beneficial business development opportunities.
  • Ensure that efficient processes and appropriately staffed teams are in place for developing and delivering high-quality content and related services on schedule to meet/exceed client expectations and contract requirements
  • Review content generated by teams for various projects/clients to assess/ensure high quality and efficient processes.
  • Seek opportunities to expand ECRI’s professional footprint as subject matter experts in infectious disease and infection prevention and control.
  • Review and approve abstracts, white papers, peer-reviewed papers for publication by ECRI or other publications.

Qualifications
  • The candidate will bring at least ten years of recent experience in healthcare or health services settings with specific focus on and understanding of infection prevention and control, epidemiology, and infectious disease principles, data analysis, and process improvement measure implementation.
  • Global awareness/knowledge of health policy and healthcare systems, integrated delivery networks, hospitals and outpatient practice settings.
  • The candidate will successfully collaborate and demonstrate the ability to work effectively across the organization.
  • Experience with budget planning and oversight; ability to work with Finance, Marketing, and Sales departments to set and achieve budget goals and maintain high level of client satisfaction
  • Excellent analytic and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent writing and editorial skills
  • The candidate will have excellent presentation skills and experience
  • The candidate will have experience working with and communicating at senior levels within the healthcare industry.

Education: Physician with Board certification in Infectious Disease; experience and training in Epidemiology and Public health preferred. 

Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office 2007+, especially Excel, Word, Visio, MS Project.

 

Certifications & Licenses:

Current professional licensed physician: USA.  

Board certification in infectious disease
