About the GeoTech Center


Established on March 11, 2020, the GeoTech Center is one of the newest centers within the Atlantic Council. Its mission is to champion paths that nations, economies, and societies can pursue to ensure new tech and data capabilities empower people while securing prosperity and peace. The GeoTech Center was founded with the recognition that the Atlantic Council’s mission of “shaping the global future together” must begin to address the outsized role that data and technology will play in shaping that future and in determining whether it leads to a better, more peaceful world.  The GeoTech Commission is shepherded by the Commission on the Geopolitical Impacts of New Technologies. The report, recently published by the commission presents several inflection points as new technology and data inventions become integrated into society. The report itself address seven key areas that illuminate the strategy for the GeoTech Center:

 Job responsibilities


  • Supervise junior team members in the execution of projects and Center activities.
  • Manage the Center’s publications workflow, including editing and web design, to ensure maximum quality of output and alignment with the Center’s mission and strategy.
  • Manage ongoing projects, which include (but are not limited to) communications, planning and executing events, coordinating meetings, conducting research, writing and editing documents including fundraising proposals, reports, articles, talking points, and conducting substantive and background research in advance of meetings and events. Research and analyze trends and policy developments in the United States and abroad
  • Identify opportunities for policy and partner engagement for the Center
  • Represent the GeoTech Center internally, especially with Associate and Assistant Directors at other centers and at outside events and functions as needed.
  • Support Center leadership with center administration such as budgeting, staffing, and preparation of internal memos
  • Track and update the Center’s workstreams and fundraising “pipelines” Design and implement GeoTech-related programs.
  • Interface with a network of senior fellows and external experts on various program areas and manage their contributions to GeoTech Center projects including written work, panel discussions, and other feedback
  • Minimum three years’ work experience in a related field.
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent work experience in International Affairs, Geopolitics, Technology or Data or a related field..
  • Experience in project and event production, including logistical support and administrative oversight.
  • Proven exceptional organizational, project management, communication, writing, and administrative skills.
  • Strong entrepreneurial work ethic and interpersonal skills, including an ability to work well in a team and to deal effectively with a range of stakeholders from interns through c-suite leaders and top officials in government and the private sector.
  • Knowledge of key issues and players in data, tech, and policy across government, private sector, academia, and nonprofits, is strongly preferred.
  • Strong writing and editing skills in English are required.
  • Community management, engagement with thought leaders/VIPs, multi-media production, social media, marketing, journalism, copy-editing, grant writing, database management, and foreign languages are a plus.
