As a Behavioral Support Coach, you will serve in our ministry by assessing students with behavior issues, collecting data on them, working with teachers, counselors, and school staff to devise a behavior plan for the student and evaluating the effectiveness of the plan.

 

The schedule for this role is Monday - Friday from 11am to 7pm. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support teachers, children's counselor, children’s social worker, and/or leadership in brainstorming solutions to challenging behaviors as they arise
  • Facilitate discussions with teachers, child’s services teams, and/or leadership around challenging behavior
  • In partnership with the classroom teacher(s), facilitate discussions with caregivers around their child’s behaviors
  • Facilitate problem-solving discussions with administrators, teachers, and other team members
  • Apply expertise in behavioral interventions to these conversations
  • Facilitate information gathering to guide planning around behavior for individual children, such as behavior incident reports, interest inventories, and developmental levels
  • Complete observations and collect data about a specific child and their incidences of identified challenging behaviors, to inform planning
  • Interview clients, review records, and confer with other professionals to assess/evaluate the condition of clients
  • Serve as liaison with After School program and community partners
  • Serve as liaison between Children Services and staff at elementary, middle, and high schools serving children
  • Assist parents in the registration process and in accessing McKinney Vento rights and services 
  • Assist with planning and implementation of special events as needed 
  • Support in the transport of children to school, appointments, etc. as needed

Position Requirements:

  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree or a recognized certification in behavioral analysis and strategies
  • Two years of experience working with children from various demographics and backgrounds
  • Demonstrate instructional knowledge of crisis intervention strategies
  • Ability to apply a gradually progressive system of verbal and non-verbal strategies to effectively deescalate potentially dangerous situations
  • Efficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment where multitasking is constant
  • High energy and ability to engage children towards their personalize goal
  • Demonstrate knowledge of applied behavioral analysis, behavioral principles, and strategies
  • Ability to develop and present ideas effectively, orally and in written form, and establish/maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, community partners, and parents

Physical Requirements:

  • Position requires standing for long periods of time and to move and walk to various locations, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, reach, pull, push, bend and twist.
  • Must be able to communicate accurate information
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 20lbs

 

SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid Georgia driver’s license and MVR with qualification standards as established in the Atlanta Mission Driver’s Manual
