The Fund for Public Health in New York City, (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the health and well-being of all New Yorkers. To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (Health Department), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City.


The Center for Health Equity & Community Wellness (CHECW) aims to eliminate racial inequities resulting in premature mortality, with a focus on chronic disease, by addressing the social and environmental factors that impact health. CHECW works to increase placed-based investments in priority neighborhoods with community programming and services based on epidemiology; influence and leverage the health system to promote whole-person care; intensify the agencys approach to tackling big salt, sugar, and tobacco; and finding innovative ways to improve the built environment and address the social determinants of health and root causes of health inequities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, CHECW is working directly with communities experiencing the unjust impacts of inequities exacerbated by COVID-19, including impacts like high mortality rates, food insecurity, loss of employment, and eviction.



The Health Department is working to ensure fair and equitable access to the COVID-19 vaccine. This requires that the communities hit hardest by the pandemic have access to the vaccine and Vaccine Hubs operated by DOHMH throughout the city. The Health Departments COVID-19 Equity Action Plan recognizes that underinvestment and structural racism are the root causes of the disproportionate burden of COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths seen in priority neighborhoods.


The Vaccine Equity Partner Engagement at NYCHA (VEPE NYCHA) project will support equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines and vaccine information by funding community partners to hire community health workers to conduct group wellness activities and wellness check-ins, increase NYCHA stakeholder involvement, and support navigation of vaccination scheduling systems in priority communities. Community and faith-based organizations often rely on very limited internal resources that have been stretched even thinner by COVID-19 and parallel pandemics (e.g. mental health, chronic disease, social and economic instability, overdose, and racism). Funding aims to increase investment in the organizations that have deep roots in the priority communities we seek to engage.


In partnership with the Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) and under the direction of the Evaluator, the Qualitative Data Analyst, VEPE NYCHA will oversee data collection, analysis, and dissemination in support of vaccine equity in neighborhoods facing the greatest burden of inequities due to COVID-19 and systemic and structural racism. This is a high-profile, high priority project in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and other City Agencies through the Vaccine Command Center.



This is a 1-year grant funded position funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. There is a likelihood for extension for an additional 2 years through June 30, 2024, contingent on grant renewal.


This position is currently remote, but it is expected that this position will report to the office either full or part-time in the near future. Once that change occurs, this position will report to DOHMH at 42-09 28th Street, Long Island City, NY.



  • Collect, clean and analyze qualitative and quantitative data
  • Oversee data collection for partner organizations
  • Oversee build-out of data collection platform, dashboards, and reports on Salesforce
  • Provide technical assistance to partners to support their data collection and reporting needs
  • Identify and reconcile data discrepancies and work with partner coordinators to resolve the issues
  • Identify issues with reporting platform and work internally with staff to rectify issues
  • Provide guidance to the team on how programmatic issues impact the reporting process or have data tracking implications
  • Track monthly milestones, identify outliers, and detect lags in reporting
  • Respond quickly to urgent data requests from stakeholders and city agencies
  • Support drafting of evaluation plan
  • Develop metrics in line with evaluation plan
  • Support preparation of summary tables, maps, and report to present key findings to leadership and stakeholders


  • Excellent qualitative and quantitative analysis skills and attention to detail
  • Understanding of racial equity and the connection to data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Commitment to applying a racial equity/social justice lens to the work
  • Data cleaning, coding, analysis, and reporting experience required; knowledge of SAS, Dedoose, and/or SAS-R preferred
  • Familiarity with Salesforce
  • Experience with reporting/mapping geospatial data
  • Experience communicating data effectively with internal and external partners
  • Analytical, creative, flexible, and able to meet tight deadlines
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Interest in working in a new initiative being developed to respond to a public health crisis



  • All new hires must be vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. This requirement must be met by your date of hire.
  • There is a potential for this position to transition to DOHMH and therefore candidates must meet DOHMH eligibility requirements, including NYC residency.



FPHNYC offers a comprehensive benefits package. The salary for this position is $65,000.
