Qualifications

About the Mental Health Therapist position

Provides in-home therapeutic clinical services to families and youth involved with the juvenile justice system with the goal of preventing out of home placement.  Must be capable of working closely with the courts, judges, schools, probation, children and youth services, hospitals and other providers in collaboration with evidence-based outcomes; all in alignment with MHY goals and strategies.  Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Conducts MST Psych assessments in alignment with established protocols and policies, including review of referral information, identifying and engaging key participants, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses, and analysis of the fit of problem behaviors within the environment.   
  • Engages primary caregivers and other key participants in the MST Psych therapeutic process and ensures that barriers are identified and overcome.    
  • Implements problem conceptualization, treatment planning, intervention implementation, outcome review and strategy revision procedures using the MST Analytic Process. 
  • Maintains clear and concise treatment documentation in alignment with MST principles and its Analytic Process, and which that promotes peer and supervisory review and feedback. 
  • Collaborates with all relevant systems, and key participants within each, to ensure buy-in and cooperation throughout MST Psych treatment, and in support of outcomes and objectives set forth by MHY.   
  • Provides direct clinical treatment using methods compatible with MST Psych principles and practices.  
  • With the MST Psych team, collaborates with the team Psychiatrist and Nurse Practitioner on psychiatric and medical issues that pertain to youth and their family members. 
  • Participates in all MST training, supervision and consultation activities and attends group and team meetings as required.  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  

This has no supervisory responsibilities. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE  

Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field of study, and demonstrated success in the clinical treatment of youth with serious antisocial behavior.  Prior experience in family and youth therapies using cognitive and behavioral approaches strongly preferred, as is prior experience in social skills assessment and intervention and child development approaches.  Must be 21 years of age with current FBI, Act 33 and Act 34 Clearances.  Current PA state driver’s license with evidence of an insurable driving record required.  Must possess demonstrated PC skills including common MS Office applications.  Additional training or licensing as required by regulations, or as deemed necessary by the Executive Director or Director.
