Job Description

The Notre Dame of Maryland University Department of Philosophy is seeking applicants for a 10-month, tenure-track, full-time, assistant professor position in Philosophy, beginning in August 2022.  The preferred candidate will have a broad background in philosophy with areas of concentration in the history of philosophy, logic, applied ethics, and critical reasoning. 

 

The Department of Philosophy also seeks to welcome a colleague who values working in a liberal arts and sciences environment and possesses a commitment to creating classes that are welcoming, accessible, and valuable to students with varied backgrounds and interests.  The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Department’s efforts to integrate issues surrounding social justice, gender, diversity, and culture into its course offerings, and for supporting the University’s mission of educating leaders to transform the world and advocating for social justice.

Job Qualifications

Candidates must have an appropriate PhD in philosophy.  Prior undergraduate teaching experience is required (especially in a student-centered college), and successful candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills, teaching excellence, and a commitment to high quality undergraduate education.  Experience with online teaching is highly desirable.  Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to seeking out extramural funding, as well as participate in the department’s recruiting efforts.
