In addition to behavioral health care, Metrocare provides primary care centers for adults and children, services for veterans and their families, accessible pharmacies, housing, and supportive social services. Alongside clinical care, researchers and teachers from Metrocare’s Altshuler Center for Education & Research are advancing mental health beyond Dallas County while providing critical workforce to the state.

The Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) program at Metrocare services provides developmental therapies and service coordination to eligible babies from birth up to the age of 3 who have significant developmental delays or disabilities. Services are provided in the natural environment and are delivered through Coaching with primary caregivers versus one-to-one treatment with the baby and therapist. The ECI Physical Therapist provides assessment, education and coaching through treatment, and participates in plan development to support to ECI children and families.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, implements, and provides individual physical and developmental therapy to infants and toddlers in a variety of inclusive and natural settings.
  • Provides families with consultation and therapy services in the home.
  • Evaluates for and develops assistive technology/adaptive equipment to assist in daily living skills and to promote independence.
  • Organizes, tracks, and conducts assessments and service delivery plans.
  • Is knowledgeable about community resources and service delivery systems including the ECI program in the State of Texas.
  • Provides consultation and training for other Interdisciplinary team members to facilitate therapy programs.
  • Coordinates interdisciplinary services for families.
  • Completes accurate and timely documentation including progress notes, and other required documentation with assigned timelines.
  • Works in accordance with ECI philosophy regarding natural environment and teamwork with other ECI practices
  • Complies with ECI of Metrocare and ECI State policies and procedures.
  • Supervises and trains PT Assistants, students, and interns, as needed.
  • Contributes to the growth of the agency through additional activities (i.e. volunteering, outreach, committees, etc.)
  • Attend mandatory, planned ECI Team Meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to read and write in Spanish is highly preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Masters Degree in Physical Therapy or other applicable area.
  • 2 or more years experience working with infants and/or families

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Basic math skills required.
  • Ability to work with reports and numbers.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to utilize Internet for resources.
  • Experience in Metrocare computer software (Avatar through Netsmart)
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. If licensed in another state, must obtain Texas Driver License within three (3) months of employment.
  • Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business. Must be insurable by Centers liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business. Must have an acceptable driving record.
  • Licensed Physical Therapist by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Physical Therapists
