Description

The Treasurer/Corporate Controller will be responsible for oversight of all Financial and Accounting activities at Midwest Transplant Network (MTN).  Also, responsible for oversight of building operations including tenant relations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Oversees and evaluates all accounting and finance activities and the preparation of financial and management reports.
  2. Establishes and implements accounting policies, procedures and practices to ensure organizational compliance with IRS, SSA, CMS and all federal, state and local agencies.
  3. Oversees the preparation of all government required reports including Medicare Cost Report and federal, state and local tax returns.
  4. Directs the control of cash and other liquid assets and coordinates the planning of fund investments and makes necessary adjustments to accounts.
  5. Directs the financial management and maintenance of owned and leased office space, including oversight of building construction, building management and tenant lease agreements.
  6. Advises the CEO in financial situations affecting the organization and continually provides feedback to the CEO on the financial status of MTN and owned and leased office space.
  7. Selects, develops and supervises accounting and building/facilities personnel and evaluates job performance on an ongoing basis.
  8. Serves as Corporate Officer/Treasurer and chairs the Finance Committees of the Governing Board of Directors and Green Ribbon Legacy Board of Directors. Provides financial regular updates to both boards and leadership team.
  9. Responsible for the development of the annual budget and presentation for approval to the Governing Board of Directors.
  10. Provides direct oversight of financial audits performed by external accounting firms.
  11. Works with the Vice President/Chief Administrative Officer and Director, Human Resources in overseeing the MTN biweekly payroll process, annual 403(b) ERISA audit, annual worker’s compensation audit and employee time accounting processes.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting, CPA preferred.
  2. Minimum seven years in a senior level finance position in a hospital/health care related organization of similar size required.  OPO financial and operational management experience strongly preferred.
  3. Ability to self-motivate and function autonomously.
  4. Excellent negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills.
  5. Proven leadership, supervision, motivation and organizational planning skills.
  6. Flexible, adaptable and dependable.
  7. Demonstrated ethical character attributes.
  8. Must maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with MTN motor vehicle policy.  Must have reliable personal automobile transportation to be used with company reimbursement using IRS guidelines.  Must be able to travel within the service area by ground or air.
  9. Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, including some nights and weekends for meetings.
  10. Ability to lift 50 pounds and transfer short distances.
  11. Possess ability to operate telephones, computers and office equipment.
  12. Ability to speak and communicate clearly in order to accurately convey information in person or by phone.
  13. OSHA Category III – No exposure to bloodborne pathogens while performing assigned job duties.
  14. Home internet and wireless phone access may be required.
