Description

The Donation Communications Coordinator is responsible for all activities related to written communication of the outcome of organ, tissue and cornea donation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

ADMINISTRATIVE

  1. Create and distribute accurate and timely donor letter communications to the families of organ, tissue and eye donors.
  2. Engage in accurate and timely letter communication with hospital staff, surgeons and other designated individuals involved in the organ (and tissue if applicable) donation process.
  3. Ensure accurate and timely letter communications to the family members of deferred donors, in accordance with MTN policy.
  4. Execute the timely mailing of appropriate designated items to accompany donor family letters.
  5. Maintain an accurate and updated Letter Sent Listing Log.
  6. Review and evaluate organ and tissue letter Quality dashboards to identify opportunities for improvement.
  7. Assume phone reception duties as part of the regular reception area coverage schedule.
  8. Collaborate with Quality Department and MTN Medical Director to send accurate and timely positive serology letters to donors’ legal next of kin.
  9. Collaborate with the Donation Services Department (DSD) and the Family Services Coordinators (FSCs) to send Donor in Spirit Letters to families who authorize donation, but ultimately are not able to donate.
  10. Participate in performance improvement projects to enhance service to donor families.
  11. Provides onboarding to Family Services Coordinators regarding proofing and approving Initial Outcome Letters.
  12. Assist with planning and execution of donor family events.
  13. Assist with donor family communication/follow up mailings.
  14. Collaborates with IT for completion of User Acceptance Testing related to donor family communication in TrueNorth.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Undergraduate degree in a business, education or related field, or equivalent experience required.
  2. Health care experience beneficial.
  3. Extremely high level of attention to detail.
  4. Strong Interpersonal and communication skills.
  5. Demonstrated dedication to organizational mission.
  6. Must maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with MTN motor vehicle policy.  Must have reliable personal automobile transportation to be used with company reimbursement using IRS guidelines.  Must be able to travel within the service area by ground or air.
  7. Ability to lift 50 pounds and transfer short distances.
  8. Possess ability to operate telephones, computers and office equipment.
  9. Ability to speak and communicate clearly in order to accurately convey information to in person or by phone.
  10. OSHA Category III – No exposure to bloodborne pathogens while performing assigned job duties.
  11. Home internet and wireless phone access may be required.
