The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the health and well-being of all New Yorkers. To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City.
The DOHMH Division of Epidemiology works to improve the health of all New Yorkers through population health surveillance and research, public health workforce development, and vital records services. The Divisions applications include public health survey solutions, public health intern solutions, public health data sharing tools for community health research, administrative public health records solution, and public health advisory communications system. The applications are used to support the DOHMH COVID-19 response through managing mortality data, managing data from population-based serosurveys of NYC residents, and through summarizing and sharing case surveillance data. In addition, survey solutions support collection of population-level data on the impact of COVID-19 on mental health, economic stability, food insecurity, vaccine hesitancy and other aspects of the social impact of the pandemic on New Yorkers. These solutions require additional resources to efficiently strategize, manage and support their operation.
