MIND Research Institute is the creator of ST Math, a breakthrough approach to learning mathematics using spatial temporal models embedded into interactive puzzles based on neuroscience and the way the brain learns.

The position will live at the heart of our interactive content production, working collaboratively with mathematicians, designers, artists, and engineers to produce our learning games and interactive content. Using your mathematical genius you will define learning outcomes, design games and interactive activities that actualize them, take them through production and place them into the hands of students.

Our ideal candidate will:
  • Design and produce ST Math games and interactive activities that disrupt industry best practices and exceed typical learning outcomes
  • Produce functional mockups, sketches, wireframes, and specification docs to clearly communicate ideas in a visually clear and consistent manner
  • Map out mathematics learning standards and progressions to identify core mathematical concepts and learning outcomes and write quiz items to assess learning outcomes
  • Build cohesive and intuitive end-to-end learning progression from first interaction and discovery through leveling and ramping
  • Take interactives through production and QA to ensure content stays true to design intent and meets a high quality bar
  • Create interactive classroom activities utilizing games and other interactives to facilitate rich classroom learning experiences that are implementable by teachers at scale
  • Problem solve user learning issues within the game and student experience
  • Collaborate with our UX Researcher to perform field testing and design research studies
  • Remain organized and work in an efficient manner at all times
  • Other projects related to improving student learning experience and outcomes

Great if you have:

  • An eclectic background at the intersection of mathematics, teaching, design, and technology
  • 3+ years experience teaching and/or tutoring in K12 mathematics
  • Experience designing instructional materials aligned to K-12 math standards
  • Proficient in 2D design tools such as Affinity Designer, Adobe Animate, Photoshop, etc.
  • Technically adept (you may not be able to write code, but you can certainly read and modify it)
  • Critical thinker and eager problem solver
  • Ability to design according to program style guides while consistently raising the bar
  • B.S. Mathematics, Education, Design or other related field

Even better if you have:

  • Experience with ST Math
  • Programming background with frontend prototyping abilities

This role can be based anywhere in the United States, as long as its not too far from an airport and you dont mind turning on your webcam to build a rapport, even from a distance. This position will report to the Senior Director of Product, Content. You may also have to take a trip to sunny Southern California 1-2x a year (when it is safe to do so)
