Applied Theatre at the Alley (Alley Education and Community Engagement (ECE)) is a national driving force for innovative arts education. We pioneer arts integration, cultivate the next generation of theatre artists, and foster community discourse.
The Arts Integration Specialist will work to reinvent the Alley Theatre’s high caliber, effective and creative arts integration programs, focused primarily on K-6 Grades. The Specialist will work closely with the Director of Education to develop, manage, and assess arts integration programming. This especially includes the ability to write in-classroom and virtual curriculum. This position will track scheduling details, identify and support teachers’ classroom goals, document success, and troubleshoot within the field. In addition, this position will collaborate with other ECE team members to support general department activities (such as student matinees, teacher training, and curriculum guide development) as deemed necessary by the ECE Director.
The Arts Integration Specialist is one of the lead stewards of Applied Theatre at the Alley’s mission, working closely with the ECE Director to create and execute innovative, effective, and impactful programming at the intersection of theatre and core curriculum and/or social emotional learning. Programming will vary according to the post-Covid19 growth of the department, demand, and overview of each fiscal year.
The Arts Integration Specialist is responsible for administration of all aspects of Alley Theatre Arts Integration programming for grades K-6, including:
- Strategizing and collaborating with the ECE leadership to explore programming opportunities and maximize revenue
- Building and maintaining relationships with current and potential partners through emails, calls and visits
- Working with ECE Director and Executive Manager to execute grant applications, project proposals, and district contract materials for relevant programming.
- Program management of relevant programming, including:
- Booking of virtual programming and live workshops and residencies according to capacity and income goals
- Assignment of Teaching Artists and coordination of schedules between filming and in-person classes and TAs
- Communication with teacher team to identify needs and implement program goals
- Creation and updating of curriculum and assessments if necessary
- Curriculum coaching with Teaching Artists
- Assembly and hand-off of assessment and open workshop materials when necessary to tend live programs
- Compilation, review, and distribution of assessment data
- End-of-year reporting on program statistics
- Developing, Planning, and Implementing Summer Institute(s), one-offs, and conference presentations
- Leadership of and/or participation in PLCs and other whole school or small group PD
- Managing all Teaching Artists assigned to Arts Integration programming, including:
- Create TA tools and resources such as binders and online guides under the guidance of ECE director and assistant directory.
- Evaluate and coach TAs in the classroom
- Working with ECE director to design and conduct effective training for new and existing TAs in group and individual settings
- Working alongside Executive Manager to execute specialized Letters of Agreement and compensation structures when applicable
- Engage and supervise appropriate Teaching Artists for opportunities as relevant to job responsibilities
- Collaborating with ECE Director and other Program Managers to hire new TAs based on program need and department capacity
- Additionally, the Arts Integration Specialist will:
- Assist other department staff with the planning and implementation of department programs, services and activities (conferences, matinees, workshops, trainings, etc.), when applicable
- Support marketing and documentation efforts by working with the ECE Sales & Marketing Coordinator to arrange for photos and videos, and provide/revise program text
- Work effectively as a team member to market, upsell and maximize the Alley Theatre’s presence within the community
