We are seeking a talented, compassionate, and ambitious Learning Support Associate committed to our mission of developing responsible citizens of a global society. We need a leader who understands best practices in personalized learning, and who is passionate about working with students from preschool through 8th grade. Who We Are
St. Thomas School, a non-sectarian, Preschool through Eighth Grade school, is one of the oldest independent schools on the east side of Lake Washington. St. Thomas School’s educational journey is defined by a cognitively rigorous program with an emphasis on developing character, leadership, and a passion for learning and achievement. Learning Support Associates play an integral role in personalizing learning at St. Thomas School. Learning Support Associates create lessons and deliver direct instruction, using specialized curriculum, to small groups inside St. Thomas School classrooms, under the guidance and mentorship of the Director of the Center for Personalized Learning. Learning Support Associates support students with accommodation needs. They also assist in extending learning opportunities for all through data gathering, analysis of learning progress, and crafting enrichment opportunities.
Trains with the Director of the Center for Personalized Learning across the year in methodologies for small group instruction, student study, educational accommodation planning and execution, and diagnostic assessment
Teaches flexible, small groups of students, meeting students’ strengths, interests, and needs in reading, writing and math
Teaches independent study classes to middle school students with modified schedules
Supports accommodation needs for elementary and middle school students
Administers, scores, organizes and analyzes data from triannual student assessment periods, in partnership with the Director of the Center for Personalized Learning and grade-level teaching teams; this data serves as a foundation for small group instruction
Develops and uses enduring understandings and core knowledge and skills, which provide a focus for teaching that is consistent with the needs, skills, and abilities of individual students and St. Thomas School’s Mission, Vision, Guiding Principles, and curriculum
