Responsibilities

Position Objective:

At Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia (HFHP), we are builders driven by accountability who work alongside, not for others and are defined by our stick-to-itiveness. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Associate will be responsible for the day-to-day expense management for HFHP. Maintaining general ledgers, budget inputs and perform general bookkeeping. The Accounting Associate will serve as the finance departments liaision with Vendors regarding Accounts Payable. Direct responsiblities include recording all activity for Accounts Payable, and other financial activity as it relates to the needs of the finance department.

Key Responsibility Area:

  • Maintain Accounts Payable. Understand bill pay timeline and, pay bills accordingly. Communicating with vendors to clarify billing and payment as needed.

  • Maintain vendors W-9 and update accounting software for 1099 entries.

  • New Market Tax Credit billing, compliance, and reconciliation.

  • Generate reports from accounting software for staff when needed regarding tracking project/program spending and/or income when appropriate.

  • Maintain vendor log, and payment records by keeping track of all invoices on Microsoft SharePoint.

  • Support month-end close process within 10 business days of month-end.

  • Enter organizational budget into accounting software on an annual basis.

  • Ad hoc reporting.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • 1-5 years of related work experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel)
  • Familiarity with FASB pronouncements and US GAAP
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems and sub-ledgers
  • Ability to analyze/resolve issues with minimal supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Being a team player
  • Vaccinated against COVID 19.  Proof will be required.

Physical Requirements to Perform Duties:

  • Ability to be stationary for long periods of time at a computer.  Internet required for work from home.
