Production Technician temporary part-time

WHRO - Norfolk, VA

The Production Technician fills various rolls in the TV studio and on remote productions to create high quality video including: teleprompter operation, studio and field camera recording, CG operation, floor direction and gripping.


Functions in any of the positions of a production as assigned, (i.e. Floor Director, Studio and Field Camera Operator, Teleprompter, Character Generator, Grip etc.).
Assist in set-up, tear-down and assist with lighting for studio and remote productions.
May be required to work some nights and weekends.
Performs other job-related duties as required by VP of Production.


The ideal candidate will have:

    A minimum of 6 months experience in professional video production
    Minimum of High School graduation with some additional training in television production preferred


Physical Conditions

WHRO requires that employees working onsite maintain a COVID-19 fully vaccinated status and will be required to provide a copy of their immunization card or certification statement to WHROs Human Resources Department.

The Videographer works in indoors and outdoor environments with various noise levels. 

While performing the duties of this job, the Production Technician is regularly required to use hands and fingers, handle, or feel computer hardware, or handle production equipment; walk or stand for long periods of time, talk, see and hear. The Production Technician must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally may move up to 50 pounds.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Other Physical Requirements

Vision Must be able to see near and distance while on the job.
Dexterity Must be able to use hands and fingers to accomplish work related tasks such using cameras, lights and other television production equipment.
Sense of Sound - Must be able to hear office equipment warning signals, electronics and copier/printer machinery.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fraction, and percents, decimals, and counting. 
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to execute detailed objectives by following written or oral instructions.
