Seattle's Union Gospel Mission is currently looking for a Graduate Programs Manager to join the Women and Children's Ministries team in Seattle, WA.

The Graduate Programs Manager supports the ministries of the Women and Children’s Ministries Program by providing high quality Biblical teaching, spiritual leadership, ministry/job training placement, supervision, records management, and development and oversight for program women in the WCM Graduate Programs.

Essential Job Duties

  1. Oversee a 4 quarter Biblical Studies curriculum and program for women in the WCM Graduate Internship Program, intentionally creating an atmosphere of spiritual growth and accountability. 
  2. Oversee a 6-12 month program for women in the Career/Education Program that will serve to support recovery program graduates in GED completion and long term employment goals.
  3. Recruit and supervise high impact volunteers for all graduate program classes and training events
  4. Plan annual spiritual retreats and events centered around spiritual formation and discipleship
  5. Serve as a liaison with mission departments, churches and organizations in the development and supervision of internship and job training opportunities for graduate program women.
  6. Meet weekly with the assigned graduate program women for supervision, case management, mentoring, professional and spiritual development.
  7. Facilitate support groups and conduct regular Bible studies
  8. Conduct intake interviews with prospective applicants for the graduate program.
  9. Develop and maintain professional-quality case-management files for assigned graduate program women as outlined in the WCM guidelines.
  10. Oversee the maintenance of graduate program communal space based on program and building guidelines
  11. Maintain Aftercare Program, which includes, monthly aftercare phone calls to program alumni and planning aftercare events.
  12. Manage annual program budget
  13. Meet weekly with WCM Assistant Director to discuss status of assigned women and any pertinent program information.
  14. Record, report, and maintain required records and statistical information for all graduate programs
  15. Maintain an atmosphere within the graduate program that will be grace based, conducive to safety, dignity, and program success.
  16. Use independent judgment regarding program resident discipline, including exiting based on program guidelines and management policies.
  17. Perform periodic drug screening of graduate program women as necessary.
  18. Maintain a positive, pleasant, professional Christian attitude
  19. Work with co-workers to forge and model transparent and supportive Christian relationships which will serve as a leadership example for recovery program women.
  20. Assist in the creation of meaningful and productive roles in which volunteers might serve in the organization; interact positively and cooperatively with our volunteers
  21. Attend and participate in all Mission, Division and Department meetings and trainings, as required.
  22. Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. The successful candidate will have an active church/prayer life and demonstrate a strong desire to serve the Mission by ministering to those whom it serves.
  2. Must agree with Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission Statement of Faith, Mission and Vision Statements and have a personal ethos and work ethic that reflects the Mission’s Core Values.
  3. Sensitivity to cultural diversity is required.

  5. Ability to successfully pass pre-employment drug and criminal background screenings.
  6. Possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License and be able to meet the standards of the Mission driver criteria required, including but not limited to:
    1. Clean driving record
    2. No current suspensions or revocations
    3. At least 21 years of age
  7. Access to reliable transportation (non-Mission) for work-related purposes required.
  8. Ability to break-down and teach theology, doctrine and Biblical Studies.
  9. Knowledge and understanding of case management standards and practices.
  10. Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  11. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Word.
  12. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.



Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time; bend, stoop or reach.
  2. Regularly lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds.
  3. Talk on telephone and use computer extensively.




4-year Bachelor’s degree required. Masters in Divinity, theology, counseling or related field from accredited college highly preferred.




Prior experience in ministry and/or addiction recovery field required.

One year of case management and/or discipleship experience required.

Prior experience within a rescue mission context preferred.
