GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Senior IT EMR Project Manager is responsible for supporting IT projects related to the EMR and ancillary clinical systems. The Senior IT EMR Project Manager will use tangible expertise to solve complex problems and find unique solutions to application issues as well as the execution of projects. The Senior IT Project Manager duties include managing overall coordination of IT projects related to the EMR and ancillary clinical applications, from planning through implementation as well as setting project scope, priorities, deadlines, and deliverable schedules as well as facilitating discussions and consensus among key stakeholders. Senior IT EMR Project Manager will also lead the coordination of resources to support Metrocare’s internal EMR user base with any application issue or escalation and will work with the Director of IT, EMR Operations and PMO to proactively identify gaps and prioritize projects that support, sustain, and maximize business operations.

This position requires initiative, independence, drive, and the ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the ability to perform a wide variety of responsibilities. Strong communication skills are an asset that will be helpful while working closely with various teams across the agency.

HOURS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Monday Friday 8 am 5 pm (80% Remote)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute project plans for the successful implementation of EMR and ancillary clinical systems.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Lead projects of cross-functional teams, including IT professionals, healthcare staff, and external vendors.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-driven team environment.
  • Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to team members.
  • Communicate project status, issues, and risks to key stakeholders, including executives and department heads.
  • Ensure effective and transparent communication between IT and healthcare teams.
  • Coordinate with EMR system vendors and third-party service providers.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals, make recommendations, and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and issues.
  • Develop contingency plans and escalate issues as needed.
  • Ensure that EMR implementations meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation processes.
  • Work with operations team to develop training programs for end-users to ensure successful adoption of EMR upgrades or changes.
  • Monitor and support end users during the transition of new products. Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of EMR systems.
  • Prepare and present regular progress reports to leadership.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation for auditing and reference purposes.
  • Identify, schedule, and assign project activities, tasks, and milestones.
  • Actively monitor, track, and manage project tasks, timelines, attainment of milestones and overall quality of project activities and deliverables.
  • Implement and facilitate change management within assigned projects.
  • Drive decision-making as it relates to project activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree.
  • Required: Minimum of 5 (+) years overall IT extensive hands-on experience in project management.
  • Required: Healthcare experience.
  • Required: Healthcare EMR experience.
  • Preferred: Experience in customer service and the ability to deal with challenging customer conversations.
  • Preferred: Experience with Netsmart myAvatar and myAvatar NX.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Basic math skills required.
  • Ability to work with reports and numbers.
  • Ability to calculate moderately complex figures and amounts to accurately report activities and budgets.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to utilize Internet for resources.
  • Understanding of EMR systems required, preferably for healthcare industry.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. If licensed in another state, must obtain a Texas Driver License within three (3) months of employment.
  • Liability insurance is required if an employee will operate a personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business. Must be insurable by Center’s liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business. Must have an acceptable driving record.
  • Project Management Certification (PMP) or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) - preferred.
  • IT Support Certification a plus.
