POSITION SCOPE

The Marketing Specialist will work with the childrens marketing team and marketing/publicity team to implement strategic plans for AMP Kids creators and brands across our core book business.

This position works within a cross-functional team, which includes sales, editorial, and digital products, to assist with strategy development and marketing planning and implementation for childrens brands, creators, and products.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES

  • Publicity strategy and implementation; includes, but not limited to:
    • Writing compelling press releases, pitch letters and emails, and other materials
    • Generating insightful and effective Marketing Briefs
    • Managing media mailings of books, materials, and catalogs, online and in print
    • Researching and compiling targeted media lists
    • Working with designers to develop effective materials for media and creators
    • Media relations (cultivating contacts in traditional and digital media)
  • Assist with marketing needs assessment and planning for childrens titles; includes, but not limited to:
    • Assist with consumer product positioning
    • Maintain and nurture creator relations
    • Determine strategy and execute email marketing plans
    • Assist in the planning/coordination of events and tours
  • Coordinate across AMU divisions to promote interdepartmental products and brands
  • Author original content and curate sourced content for blogs, websites, and digital platforms
  • Conduct research, interpret data, analyze results and otherwise assist in the development of the digital marketing strategy for AMU creators/brands
  • Work with Social Media Coordinator to amplify creator voices and platforms
  • Work with Trade Marketing Manager on industry marketing and events
  • Work with the Childrens Marketing Director and Brand Managers to raise AMP Kids profile within childrens publishing ecosystem
  • Assist with the management of AMP Kids website and newsletter
  • Coordinate collaborative marketing initiatives with external partners (e.g., Indigo, Penguin Random House, etc.)
  • May assist with training of Marketing interns

  • Articulate and comfortable speaking before an audience

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in marketing or publicity
  • Four-year Bachelors degree (Journalism, English, Marketing or Mass Communications major preferred)
  • Experience with social media content management and strategy
  • Experience using Cision or similar media database software is a plus
  • Excellent writer
  • Command of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Command of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
