Position Summary:

The Vice President, Digital Product directs TCM’s digital product development and go-to-market strategies to promote business development and growth of new revenue streams for the company. An experienced executive with proven expertise in education and the technologies used for education is required. The VP will bring a blend of strategic, creative, analytical, and leadership skills with a deep knowledge of the educational technology industry. They are committed to creating products that make teaching more effective and learning more fun.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Product Development and Life Cycle

  • Create digital products and features from initial concept through launch. Create strategy awareness and move towards utilizing methodologies such as user-centered design and/or continuous delivery methodologies to enhance products and user experience.
  • Build and scale a portfolio of products that serve the needs of students, teachers and educators, and consumers.
  • Lead the digitization of current solutions, working closely with internal and external stakeholders and team members.
  • Bring and gain knowledge of effective platforms to the development process. Apply product development and management experience with web-based platforms, products, apps, or services to apply industry best practices.
  • Author UX product requirements, use cases, and user stories and translate technical information into clear requirements and processes to ensure successful build and rollout of new or enhanced features that improve products.
  • Lead cross-departmental media development and products such as videos and podcasts to support educators and drive business development and brand awareness.
  • Establish user feedback loops to evaluate and consolidate feature requests.

Business Development and Strategy

  • Provide digital experience, industry, and business expertise to form the vision and roadmap for best-in-class digital products in our market while ensuring that digital products seamlessly fit into the broader TCM experience.
  • Identify new digital revenue streams and support market opportunities.
  • Build a team that grows with the company’s digital strategy.
  • Oversee all digital product prioritization, launches, and go-to-market plans (product, sales, marketing, and customer service).
  • Work with the senior leadership team and other department and field leaders to map out the needs and capabilities of current and future products.
  • Make decisions, in partnership with the President and senior leadership team, on digital investment priorities.
  • Translate customer and business needs into short-term and long-term product direction.
  • Track and analyze customer and staff usage of platforms to identify trends and possible improvements. Monitor product and platform performance and identify opportunities to improve the product.
  • Identify market opportunities and provide strategic proposals for product direction.
  • Integrate products into a coherent portfolio of products focused on the market.
  • Establish, monitor, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) and ROI goals and measurement.
  • Collaborate with COO and VP of IT to form strategic third-party partnerships that support TCM’s overall development, infrastructure, and implementation strategies.
  • Continuously improve cross-functional planning, team alignment, and decision-making processes.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of digital experience leading web/mobile/applications in educational technology.
  • Extensive knowledge of digital products.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Business problem solver – operates with curiosity to get to the root of the business problem to ensure the ultimate solution is grounded in strategy and objectives.
  • Digitally fluent and confident in speaking to and educating about the rapidly changing digital landscape, including platforms, technology, and innovation, to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Knowledgeable about the needs of teachers, students, parents, and administrators; uses internal and external resources to address knowledge gaps.
  • Actively listens and asks smart questions; is willing to have honest, ongoing dialogue about what’s working and what isn’t.
  • A passion for quality and commitment to the user experience.
  • Ability to analyze data.
  • High energy level and a passion for creating new digital products for educators, students, and consumers.
  • Proven ability to build, cultivate, and motivate highly creative teams.
  • Technical savvy with ability to translate to senior management.
  • Deep knowledge of interactive disciplines and technologies.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sit for extended periods of time, including at a computer.
  • Repetitive hand and wrist movements for frequent us of computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Occasional lifting up to 15 lbs.
