Description

Recovery Network of Programs, Inc. (RNP), is a private, non-profit, social service agency which has been serving the Greater Bridgeport Community and Fairfield County area since 1972. RNP is dedicated to helping those living with substance use, mental health disorders, and homelessness. Our mission is to restore hope, health, and wellbeing for individuals and families in a recovery environment that embraces compassion, dignity, and respect.

 

Horizons This program, located in Bridgeport, Connecticut, is a CARF accredited, intensive short-term inpatient program for individuals struggling with addiction or co-occurring with addiction and mental health. Clients consist of males and females, aged 18 or over with a substance dependence disorder, including those receiving or in need of medication-assisted services for opiate addiction. Psychiatric services are provided on-site. Post-discharge referrals are made to a variety of housing resources as well as outpatient addiction and mental health services. Clients who complete successfully are encouraged to become members of the alumni group in order to offer hope to those who are beginning the recovery process.

 

HOURS

Monday through Friday from 5:30pm to 9:30pm

 

CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Assists physician by transcribing physician’s orders in a timely manner with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Observe and documents the self-administration of prescribed controlled and non-controlled medications and when medically indicated administer medications to treat psychiatric, substance abuse and medical issues in accordance with approved nursing techniques, program policies and procedures and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Verifies, updates, records and files doctors' orders, dosage levels and laboratory results in client records.
  • Observes clients, records significant conditions and reactions, manages and notifies supervisor or physician of any changes in client's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.  Documents refusal of medication(s) and all PRNs which are administered during shift.
  • Provide medical education for clients served within the co-occurring enhanced intensive residential treatment program on an individual basis as needed and in groups periodically. 
  • Attends nursing meetings with all nursing staff as scheduled by Director of Nursing Services. 
  • Engages in ongoing training to enhance knowledge of co-occurring disorders to remain current in the field.
  • Forward all individual Kardexes to counselors for filing at the end of each month.
  • Obtains PPD records and/or administers PPD to clients and maintains record of client.
  • Assumes all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the Director of Nursing Services/supervisor.

Qualifications

CORE COMPETENCIES 

Registered Nurse (RN) recognized in the State of Connecticut.  Previous experience in opiate treatment programming, co-occurring programming or similar community-based behavioral health organization preferred.

  • Ability to provide caring and compassionate care. 
  • Specialized judgment, skill in observation, care and counseling of clients with co-occurring disorders.
  • Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships. 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Ability to project a professional image.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES 

Current RN in the State of Connecticut required.  Valid Connecticut driver's license may be required.
