The Associate Director of Corporate, Foundation, and Government Relations (CFGR) is a pivotal role on the Advancement team, responsible for securing financial support primarily from corporations and foundations, with a secondary focus on government agencies. The Associate Director proactively seeks out opportunities, researches and writes grant proposals, and manages the CFGR Coordinator, ensuring alignment with the university's strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts to identify, cultivate, and secure funding from corporate and foundation donors for ongoing university projects.
  • Oversee and support the Coordinator in facilitating faculty-driven research grant applications, focusing on enhancing faculty capabilities in seeking government and other research grants.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and program officers at funding organizations, ensuring a robust pipeline of funding opportunities.
  • Strategically engage with university leadership and faculty to align funding opportunities with institutional priorities.
  • Manage the preparation and submission of grant proposals, ensuring high-quality, compelling submissions.
  • Supervise the CFGR Coordinator, providing guidance and oversight to their activities and ensuring their growth and development within the department.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of grant activities including proposals, awards, and reports, ensuring compliance with all funder requirements.
  • Develop and deliver training and workshops to faculty and staff on grant writing and funding acquisition.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary to support the Advancement division's goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in fundraising, preferably within higher education.
  • Demonstrated success in securing gifts and grants from corporate and foundation sources.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with an ability to manage complex projects and schedules.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to write persuasively and clearly writing.
  • Proficient in using fundraising databases, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teams across the university.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in donor relations and engagement within a university setting.
  • Knowledge of government grant mechanisms and regulations.
