Admissions Specialist

Friends University is seeking to fill the Admissions Counselor position in Wichita Kansas. This position recruits new students for traditional undergraduate programs. Represents the University at high school visits, college fairs, etc. Plays a critical role in student and family visits to the campus and additional events. Recruiting via phone, email, text, social networking and in person and/or visiting with counselors, teachers and coaches at high schools and community colleges. Work hours are normally between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and average 45-50 hours per week. Weekly call nights are required to meet recruitment goals. Some additional evening and/or weekend hours may be required.

Six months or more of similar or related experience. Well-developed public speaking, presentation, communication and organizational skills. Professional work experience in sales/promotion/public relations or related field preferred with the proven ability to meet goals. Knowledge of Microsoft environments including Word and Excel required.

Bachelor’s degree required.

Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are necessary. Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner is required.

Knowledge of Microsoft environments including Word and Excel required. Knowledge of Ellucian's Banner helpful. Bilingual in English-Spanish is a plus. Must have a positive outgoing personality. Comfortable with initiating conversations with prospective students. Able to present Friends University in a succinct and compelling manner. Ability to close sales.

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
