Role Overview
Connect Savannah News Editor position plays a pivotal role in guiding our small news team through a transformation into a digital-focused news platform while continuing to provide direction for our monthly print magazine. Reporting to the publisher and as a member of the executive team, this position will be responsible for leading the editorial vision, managing a team of staff and freelancers, devising innovative strategies that grow readership online and in print, and nurturing a newsroom culture of excellence.
Qualifications and Business Acumen
Minimum two years of management/supervisory experience and a college degree are required. Comprehensive understanding of the media landscape, blending quality, factual journalism with successful business strategies. Experience and expertise in amplifying impact and redefining narratives is a requirement.
Management and Supervisory Experience
Manage and supervise a team of two employees and freelance writers in gathering news across various beats, including local news, city government, business, education, growth and development, Georgia Ports, infrastructure, and investigative pieces.
Strategic Visionary
Develop innovative news strategies to enhance audience engagement, readership, and subscriptions. Provide keen insights and a forward-thinking approach to lead the team into uncharted territories of hyperlocal digital news stories.
Digital Experience
Proficient in leveraging digital platforms and social media to captivate and build online audiences. Ensure that our content remains at the forefront of timely and relevant digital discourse.
Print Magazine Acumen
Curate feature stories in arts, entertainment, food, and music content for Connect Savannah’s monthly print publication.
Masterful Storyteller
Empower reporters and freelance writers to craft compelling narratives. Enhance storytelling abilities and enrich narratives to captivate readers.
