BASIC PURPOSE:  Responsible for overseeing the financial integrity of the AVANCE North Texas Chapter in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.  Keep the Executive Director apprised of the financial condition of the Chapter and its adherence to budgets and procedures. Prepare monthly financial status reports for the Board of Directors.

LOCATION: AVANCE North Texas Chapter – Dallas, Texas central office.

Finance Job Functions

  1. Manages a uniform, automated accounting system with appropriate supporting documentation and internal control measures to assure timely and accurate record keeping in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and all applicable laws, procedures and regulations.
  2. Collaborates with Executive Director to formulate twelve-month financial planning documents for annual approval, periodic review and assessment/evaluation in accordance with AVANCE, Inc. fidelity standards.
  3. Collaborates with the Executive Director and Fund Development Director to monitor grant files to ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of all grants and contracts
  4. Processes invoices include coding, data entry, check processing and mailing
  5. Maintains vendor files
  6. Manages cash assets and accounts receivable, banking, financial investments, and financing
  7. Prepares monthly financial statements
  8. Analyzes financial records to forecast future financial position and budget requirements.
  9. Develop cash plans to support and accompany financial plans and budgets
  10. Manages, oversees and coordinates Chapter activities involving internal or external audits; establishes or complies with standards and practices for auditable documentation and internal controls.
  11. Manages the preparation of records and special exhibits related to annual audits.
  12. Work closely with the Executive Director to ensure compliance.
  13. Any other duties as assigned.


Required:  Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S) from an accredited institution

Preferred:  Master’s degree (Accounting or Business) from an accredited institution


Required: Minimum of five (5) years accounting (audit or tax) experience. 

 Preferred:  Experience related to finance management, non-profit accounting and budget forecasting. Experience in benefits administration and payroll processing.


Preferred: Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains.
