Responsibilities
  • Responsible for research, analysis, planning, and integration of interior/exterior structural installations on private, business, commercial and military aircraft
  • Generates and assembles drawings and documents to support installation, modification and/or repair of structural and system components on aircraft
  • Develops structured analyses and reports to validate mechanical installation applicability and integrity
  • Designs and coordinates material and structural repairs
  • Assists with planning and selection of equipment installation locations
  • Coordinates and monitors structural/mechanical aspects of project schedule with project managers
  • Develops cabin interior, systems and structural modification/installation work instructions, procedures and recommendations
  • Generates 3-D mock-ups of components and installations to test-fit prior to manufacturing
  • May assist in estimating, quoting and planning in support of aircraft modifications
  • Acts as a liaison between engineering and the aircraft integration/installation teams
  • Prior knowledge of installations, modifications and repairs of structural aircraft components, fixtures, and associated equipment in accordance with blueprints, worksheets and engineering drawings
  • Assist aircraft integration teams with structural planning and fit checks
  • Help maintain and develop company owned Supplemental Type Certificate(s) and approved designs
  • Interface with and maintain good working relationships with customers and integration teams
  • Provide mentorship to less-experienced structural engineering team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Valid FAA Structural DER certification is highly desired
  • Bachelor's Degree (BS or BST) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering 
  • 7+ years of Aviation Structural integration experience
  • Must be proficient in technical analysis, have a working knowledge of aircraft certification requirements, can manage multiple projects simultaneously, and be comfortable working with other departments and outside organizations.
  • Experience in fabrication and/or installation of basic structural systems in aircraft
  • Understanding of aircraft loads and load paths.  Experience in static structural analysis calculations for installations
  • Working knowledge of aircraft structural repair practices
  • Familiar with standard aircraft assembly and modification shop practices
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements (14 CFR Part 21, 23, 25, 145)
  • Experienced in mechanical design CAD package(s)
