WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Our People & Culture Team is responsible for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding a year-round team of coaches, interns, AmeriCorps service members, graduate fellows, and full time team members. We're looking for a People & Culture VISTA to support these human resources areas during our summer cycle as we prepare to hire coaches for our fall sports and school-based programs. The serrvice role would be based at our main office in Manhattan and require an in-person commitment of 40 hours per week. You would be reporting directly to the Sr. Employee Relations Coordinator and Chief People Officer during the summer.
As the People & Culture VISTA, you will be employed by the Up2Us Sports VISTA with Kids in the Game as your host-site. This is a service role designed to to help end the cycle of poverty through intentional youth sports and education programming. The Up2Us Sports VISTA Summer Associates will be placed at Kids in the Game to support the People & CultureTeam.
Term Dates: June 12th through August 11th (9 weeks)
- Must be able to work 9am-5pm Monday through Friday during these weeks.
Compensation
- Summer VISTA Stipend: $4,625.46
- End of Term Bonus
- Educational Award: $1,459.26
OR
- End of Service Award: $311
Position Responsibilities:

Review resumes in our application tracking system, contact candidates by phone/email to schedule phone screens & virtual interviews
-
Conduct pre-screen calls for potential interviews
-
Arrange group interviews by coordinating schedules and using our scheduling platform (Calendly)

Update job postings and track the number of applications received per posting
-
Conduct reference checks and collect employment paperwork (digital and print)
-
Assist with preparing digital and print recruitment materials
-
Assist with other P&C tasks related to supporting our summer camps and 150+ coaches (e.g. planning events, ordering supplies, answering emails, employee documentation)
WHAT WE’RE GOING TO LOVE ABOUT YOU
Our ideal candidate would meet some or all of the following qualifications:

Recent college graduate or Master’s degree student in a related field looking to gain valuable experience in research, marketing, and partnership cultivation

A passion for digital marketing, sports, business development, and youth education industry; former athlete or strong connection to sport-based youth development is a plus

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Suite

Strong attention to detail

Creative problem-solving and critical thinking skills

Competence in research skills

Strong written and oral communication skills in English
