Job Summary:

Under general supervision, the Middle School baseball coach will be responsible for the middle school baseball program. Season begins on February 24th and concludes on May 15th.  Practices held twice a week (Monday and Wednesday 3:00-4:30) with games played during the week and on Sundays. 


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Discusses game strategy and technique with Varsity coaching staff
  • Conducts player evaluations during tryouts and mid-season review
  • Manages player development based on program core competencies 
  • Works with Assistant Athletics Director and Middle School coaching staff to create practice plans that are skill appropriate
  • Organizes one team event in conjunction with a varsity game
  • Teaches appropriate fundamentals, techniques and skills
  • Is responsible for health and safety of the athletes
  • Applies developmentally appropriate and age appropriate methods to coaching student-athletes
  • Emphasizes sportsmanship and leadership among athletes
  • Clearly communicates to players, parents, administrators and staff
  • Positively motivates athletes and promote teamwork
  • Teaches appropriate fundamentals, techniques and skills
  • Directs off-court curriculum
  • Performs other duties as assigned




  • Salary Stipend is based on experience ranges from $1,800-$2,200
  • Stipend paid in three installments (March 31st, April 30th, and May 29th)



Required Education & Experience:


  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree in physical education or related field from a four-year college or university preferred
  • Demonstrated competence and experience in coaching soccer required
  • Recent successful coaching experience in an Middle School environment preferred
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain valid First Aid/CPR card

  • Deep knowledge of the intricacies of Baseball
  • Understanding of the developmental needs of middle school-aged students
  • Efficient, well organized, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the students and program
  • Professional manner, discretion, and appearance
  • Sense of humor, energy and enthusiasm and ability to hold students and oneself to high expectations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work and communicate well with all levels of faculty and staff
  • Ability to work and communicate well with students and their parents
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Proficient in appropriate computer skills and office equipment
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Awareness of proper body mechanics to prevent injury
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, walk, and talk
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work outside in any weather
  • Some local travel may be required
