Description

The Corporate Engagement Associate supports fundraising efforts of United Way’s Workplace Fundraising Team, part of the larger Donor Relations team and currently comprised of five full-time fundraising professionals. In this role, the individual will assist in raising nearly $23 million from hundreds of top local companies and will experience first-hand the strategies developed and utilized in larger-scale corporate fundraising. This position will include organizing and facilitating fundraising events, analyzing key donor data, ensuring corporate contacts have the necessary tools to fundraise, and supporting the Workplace Fundraising team as necessary. This entry-level position is well suited for an individual interested in deepening their development experience.

 

Essential Functions

  • Develop and coordinate strategic fundraising growth plan for assigned portfolio, comprised of local and national corporate partners who fundraise up to $20,000 annually.
  • Set revenue goals for corporate accounts based on evaluation of strengths and weaknesses and identify areas for potential growth.
  • Engage current partners in the following:
    • Corporate gift
    • Personal gift/employee campaign
    • Planned giving opportunities
    • e-Pledge capabilities
    • Volunteer opportunities
    • Connection to a critical issue aligned with United Way
  • Track fundraising results and projections; Recommend tactics to meet goals.
  • Work closely with non-profit partners who administer a United Way workplace campaign of their own, while also engaging new agencies to participate.  
  • Support other members of the Workplace Fundraising Team through campaign kickoff presentations, public speaking opportunities and overall donor engagement events.
  • Personal organization of multiple campaign accounts, each demonstrating different levels of production and engagement. The uniqueness of each account requires creativity and awareness of partners’ philanthropic interests.
  • Ensure that the principles and practices of excellent Customer Relations Management is in place, continually monitored and improved.
  • Partner with Major Gifts team to develop growth strategies for each corporate partner within portfolio.
  • Deepen year-round engagement with corporate partners through volunteerism, special events, and donor group activities.
  • Learn basic functions of donor database and CRM tools in order to utilize donor data in support of fundraising objectives.

 

Additional Functions

  • Identify, recruit and motivate volunteers for the campaign and United Way committees (i.e. RFP volunteers; Women’s Leadership Council, Bridges Society (young professionals), Tocqueville Society (major gift donors) etc.) in a timely manner.
  • Represent the United Way at community functions and activities to network.
  • Participate in meetings and training programs to enhance product knowledge and selling skills (potential travel involved).
  • Manage special projects as assigned (i.e. develop and implement training programs; campaign event planning; social media etc.).
  • Speaking to groups of donors about United Way’s mission and key areas of work.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Required
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Preferred
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
    • Entry-level fundraising position.

 

Annual Salary

  • Pay Grade 103
  • Salary Rage $36,900 - $43,400

Physical Demands

  • LightExerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly. Even when weight lifted is negligible, a job is rated light when: 1) it involves walking or standing to a significant degree; 2) it requires sitting most of the time but involves pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; 3) it involves working at a production rate that requires constant pushing or pulling of materials.

 

Travel Requirements

  • Frequent travel within the region via ground transportation
