The Public Affairs Department of AIUSA connects the work of individuals and communities all around the United States on key social, political and economic issues facing communities with the global human rights movement.
The Events team is responsible for the organization and execution of Amnesty’s events. Events include but are not limited to AIUSA’s Annual General Meeting (national conferences) and Regional Conferences. Our internship provides an opportunity for interns to see first-hand the inner workings of a grassroots advocacy organization, as well as creatively participate in projects alongside staff members. Interns will have an opportunity to work closely with the Events Team to organize and implement all aspects of successful event planning and execution, including:
- Develop creative ideas for new and existing AIUSA events
- Assist in the onsite production of conferences, speaker-panels, and other AIUSA events
- Learn about the process of proposing, planning, and producing events within a large organization
- Support of event logistics during the weeks leading up to the day of the event
- Project management of each event by monitoring timelines
- Preparation for event registration
- Coordination of AV/Catering details for all events
- Co-management of interactive spaces at the Annual General Meeting
- Organize and finalize hotel and travel accommodations for speakers and staff
- Assist in creating debrief reports post-events to share with key stakeholders
- Conduct strategic community and partner outreach and networking to assist the production of events
- Support attendee engagement via our selected event app Whova
- Help to create and develop event collateral materials.
- Research and negotiate prices and build relationships with local vendors for products needed for events
***Spring interns are afforded the opportunity to travel to the Annual General Meeting and assist on-site as part of the events team. The 2020 AGM will take place March 6th - 8th in San Diego, California***
