Solar Designer

Solect Energy, is currently seeking a full time Solar Designer.  The key responsibilities are work with other internal design staff in creating preliminary designs and redesigns using Helioscope, new building designs in AutoCAD, ground mount and canopy designs in AutoCAD, producing construction document sets, and electrical one-line diagrams, and perform site assessments.  Other responsibilities within the Design and Engineering department as necessary.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create rooftop designs in Helioscope that conform to NEC codes and permitting requirements
  • Create new building designs, ground mount, and canopy designs using AutoCAD
  • Produce construction document sets that will be used, during construction as well as creating as built construction documents once install is complete
  • Create electrical one-line diagrams to be reviewed and stamped by PE
  • Perform site assessments with other members of Operations team

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • 1-3 years experience in Solar Design and Engineering
  • Proficiency in Helioscope, AutoCAD, Salesforce and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge in Solar PV engineering concepts
  • Quality oriented with attention to detail
  • Professional and personable demeanor and willingness to interact with clients
  • Comfortable with heights on accessing roofs
  • NABCEP PV Design or Installation Certificate
  • Masters degree in renewable energy
