The Supervising LVN oversees all aspects of South Bay Family Health Care (SBFHC)'s back office functions, including the management, training and support of medical assistants. He/she will also assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of systems to continuously improve the quality of care and services delivered to SBFHC patients. Responsibilities include some direct patient care to SBFHC’s patients.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide management and training to SBFHC’s medical support staff to ensure adherence to organization’s established protocols and government agencies’ medical protocols and guidelines to include Laboratory /Phlebotomy services and follow-up, and Medication Dispensary policies.
• Monitor Medical Assistants’ certifications and skills.
• Provide triage, medication refill and laboratory follow-up services to SBFHC patients.
• Assist in the implementation of SBFHC’s Clinical Quality Improvement activities.
• Assist in the development, implementation and documentation of systems to monitor and evaluate the quality, appropriateness and outcome of care and services delivered to SBFHC patients.
• Monitor and track outcomes of the organization’s clinical QI improvement programs, including appropriate documentation and recordkeeping.
• Assist in the development, maintenance and monitoring of appropriate medical recordkeeping practices.
• Maintain awareness of current clinical treatment and information in assigned area.
• Participate in and inform support staff of clinical practice updates.
• Proactively identify problems that might impact directly, or indirectly, the provision of care or access to care within scope responsibility.
• Participate in monthly peer review/chart audit program.
• Coordinate with Clinic Services Manager, QA/QI Manager, and Operations Director to ensure preparedness for provider site audits and regulatory compliance audits.
• Strictly adhere to universal precautions as established by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, DHS/OA and SBFHC.
• Provide direct patient care within scope of licensure.
• Maintain strictest patient confidentiality; adhering to all HIPAA, California and SBFHC guidelines/regulations.
• Maintain positive relationships with co-workers, patients and volunteers.
• Attend staff, provider and administrative meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience – Associate's degree; Current LVN license from the State of California, with no pending or previous disciplinary action from any state licensing entity, restrictions or pending disciplinary actions; Current CPR certification; Minimum of 1 year full-time nursing experience within the last 3 years; Experience managing diverse staff.

Knowledge – Of state-of-the-art medical scientific and treatment methods in area of specialty, awareness of current medical, educational and psychosocial intervention procedures.

Ability - Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent people skills including the ability to interact with a multi-disciplinary clinical team, management and volunteers. Perform clinical responsibilities within the organization’s established guidelines in a organized, efficient manner; ability to relate and communicate well to all cultural and ethnic groups in the community; ability to support the goals of the organization; ability to be flexible with work schedules and sites.
