Description

Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission is currently looking for a Gifts-in-Kind Coordinator to join the Gifts-In-Kind team in Seattle, WA.

 

Seattle's Union Gospel Mission is a private faith-based organization that helps the community to reach out with compassion to those who have lost hope. And as a community, we empower one another to build, lead and give back.

 

The Gift-in-Kind Coordinator is the main point of contact for the Distribution Center. The Gift-in-Kind Coordinator assets and build relationships with clients, partners, volunteers and donors at the Distributions Center. This position assists and supports the growth and function of the Gifts-in-Kind (GIK) Department through clerical support, volunteer engagement and donation acquisition. A strong candidate will be able to help meet department and mission goals.

Shift Schedule

Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 4:30pm

 

Essential Job Duties

  1. Maintain a positive, pleasant, professional Christian attitude.
  2. Represent the Mission to donors and assist them with drives and donations.
  3. Assist donors calling or visiting the Distribution Center looking for information.
  4. Assist partners and clients with scheduling shopping appointments, pickups and information.
  5. Work with the Warehouse Manager and Operation Supervisor on all incoming donations, drives, shopping appointments and pickups.
  6. Work with the Inventory Specialist to increase donations in key Mission areas for the purpose of cutting program expenses.
  7. Develop strong relationships with current and prospective donors in order to increase GIK donations for use by the Mission.
  8. Work closely with Volunteer engagement on all incoming volunteers at the Distribution Center.
  9. Prepare applications for GIK and small grants.
  10. Reach out to partner organizations for program support on routine requests; zoo and aquarium tickets.
  11. Updating Studio Enterprise on a weekly basis.
  12. Update and maintain the GIK donor data bases.
  13. Processing and filling all necessary paper work and receipts regarding incoming and outgoing donations. 
  14. Attend all Mission meetings and training sessions, as required.
  15. Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. The successful candidate will have an active church/prayer life and demonstrate a strong desire to serve the Mission by ministering to those whom it serves.
  2. Must agree with Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission Statement of Faith, Mission and Vision Statements and have a personal ethos and work ethic that reflects the Mission’s Core Values.
  3. Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission accepts and encourages the involvement of volunteers at all levels in the organization. All Mission staff are encouraged to assist in the creation of meaningful and productive roles in which volunteers might serve in the organization, and to interact positively and cooperatively with our volunteers.
  4. Ability to successfully pass pre-employment drug and criminal background screenings.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Power Point and Excel required.
  6. Strong sense of stewardship for what God provides through donors and partners.
  7. Ability to multi-task and handle a variety of issues and responsibilities required.
  8. Ability to interact in a professional manner at all times.
  9. Clear and professional interpersonal communication (writen and verbal) skills as well as ability to maintain a friendly disposition towards guests, volunteers and staff required.

 

 

Education:    High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred.

 

Experience:  Two years of experience in customer service required. Office management or administrative experience preferred.

 

 

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time; bend, stoop or reach.
  2. Regularly lift and/or carry up to 20 pounds; occasionally lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds. .
  3. Talk on telephone and use computer extensively.
